Will this be a thing? It’s a state sanctioned paramilitary force answerable only to counties and the state. Cannot be federalized.

It was brought up last year in the legislature but I can’t find any new info.

Anyone hearing anything about it?

Can I be an 87 star operational general?

Hopefully they'll set it up using the Texas & Utah models, and keep the riff raff out.

@Ben

Nice

Any chance you’d post be willing the text of the revised bill?

With everything going on in the world today I remembered hearing about it last year and was thinking it would be a great resource to have at the state level. Too bad we couldn’t stand it up this year (or last year). Hopefully 2025 isn’t too late.

Proper vetting of the applicants, and a very good organizational plan.

States with other State Guard units had issues, and their orgs failed.

Draft copy text LC3919

This is the last one I read, but I’m not sure if it has the tweaks Ben mentioned in it.  It got indroduced way late in the ‘23 session.  I’m in!

This is needed.

Having organization like this definitely fills a need in the area.

Agreed.

@ben I'd appreciate you walking me through the process of how to get this legislation rolling.   I imagine we can get momentum in ND and the adjoining states for this if we standardize the process.

Just think, this could be as common as constitutional carry in 5-10 years if we do it right.

The Texas State Guard is a sort of weird group, but not weird enough that I would tell them to get away if they were there with a truck to get me out of a hurricane flood.

I'd say whatever they did, it's worth copying.

What about weaponry, issued by the state with what the Guard use's or supplied by the member who joins up?

ETA: Nevermind, just read the text of the bill. However, if they buy the weapon, is it going to be for $1500 or $30,000??
