Cop Stalked Teen Girl, Sent Sexual Photos, Handcuffed Her On Jersey Shore: Prosecutor

The alleged conduct began during Manalapan Township's National Night Out event, part of an annual community outreach campaign in which numerous police departments countywide participated.

Ruditsky was in full uniform at the time, and after allowing the victim to sit in his patrol car, later that evening and in the days that followed, he began sending her sexually explicit messages and photos over social media   despite the victim having repeatedly informed him of her age, the prosecutor said.

The investigation also found that several days after National Night Out, while the victim was driving on Route 9, Ruditsky pulled her over, unlawfully handcuffed her, and attempted to kiss her while his dash camera and body-worn camera were both deactivated.

Police responded and spotted both cars at the intersection of Mount Prospect and Bloomfield avenues. Verona police officers gave chase but ended that pursuit when it became too dangerous to follow.

Weapons charge lands N.J. man in prison after incident at Upper Providence gun show

NORRISTOWN   A New Jersey man who police said stole a handgun from a display table of a merchant at a gun show in Upper Providence Township and also used false identification to purchase another firearm is headed to prison.

Christopher M. Hart, 37, of Roebling, N.J., was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 4 to 8 years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to felony charges of person not to possess a firearm and making materially false statements on state and federal firearms sales paperwork in connection with the June 11, 2022, incident at the gun show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Upper Providence.
View Quote

The investigation began about 3:06 p.m. June 11 when Upper Providence police were dispatched to the Eagle Arms Gun Show at the expo center on Station Avenue for a report of a theft in progress, according to the criminal complaint filed by Upper Providence Police Officer Eric Smith.

The operator of Jordan Firearms reported to police that a male stole a handgun from his display table and a short time later Hart was apprehended with the stolen Taurus G3 9mm semiautomatic handgun, according to the criminal complaint. The gun was valued at $579.99, police said.

The investigation found that Hart had a previous drug conviction in New Jersey that made Hart a person not to possess a firearm, police alleged.

A search of Hart also yielded a receipt in the amount of $291 for a Taurus G7 9mm handgun purchased from Backwoods Outfitters, which also had a display table at the gun show, court documents indicate.

The receipt for the purchase was made out in the name of a Philadelphia man, whose driver's license Hart used to fill out federal and state firearms purchase forms "to fraudulently purchase the Taurus G7 in an attempt to circumvent the background check process associated with purchasing a handgun in Pennsylvania because he knew he is a person not permitted to possess a firearm," Smith alleged.

Police said Hart signed the federal and state firearms purchase forms using the Philadelphia man's name and biographical information.

"It should be noted both forms clearly state providing false information is punishable by law," Smith wrote in the arrest affidavit.

Cop Impersonators' South Jersey Robbery Spree Thwarted: Prosecutor

SOUTH JERSEY   Two people who impersonated police as they conducted robberies throughout South Jersey have been apprehended, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO).

Shanndoah Gray and Michael Ficara showed badges and identified themselves as officers when they approached victims   some of whom they robbed   authorities said. Gray, 51, was arrested Wednesday in Lindenwold, where he lives. Ficara, 39, of Mount Royal, is in Salem County Jail on unrelated charges.
View Quote

Here's what happened during each incident, according to the CCPO:

Gloucester Township

At about 9 p.m. Sept. 19, the suspects   later identified as Gray and Ficara   used a red sedan to pull over a victim on Little Gloucester Road. The pair approached the victim and identified themselves as officers. One of the suspects grabbed the victim by the shirt and stole cash from him.

Winslow

The duo tried to stop a vehicle at about 4:45 a.m. Sept. 28 on Waterford Road and Route 73. The victim pulled over, and the suspects approached him and identified themselves as police.

Gray and Ficara claimed the victim was a robbery suspect. The victim claimed he wasn't comfortable and requested a marked unit show up. As a result, the suspects fled the area.

Washington Township

Just after 9 p.m. that same day, Gray and Ficara tried to stop an occupied vehicle parked behind the Kohl's Plaza. The suspects flashed their high beams, yelled at the victims to turn off their car and displayed a badge.

The victims drove away. Shortly thereafter, Gray and Ficara burglarized a nearby, unoccupied vehicle and stole a wallet with credit cards inside.

Deptford

At about 10:45 p.m. that night, Deptford police responded to a report of two suspects approaching an occupied vehicle at Almonesson Creek Park. The suspects had identified themselves as officers and attempted to question the driver.

The victim didn't believe the suspects, so they called 911 and drove out of the park.

Lindenwold

Officers responded to a report of possible law-enforcement impersonators at about 9:45 p.m. Sept. 30 at the 700 block of E Elm Avenue. Upon arrival, Lindenwold police found two victims who reported they were approached by two male suspects.

The suspects, dressed as plain-clothes officers, searched the victims and stole money from them. When one of the victims confronted them, one suspect displayed a small handgun, which turned out to be an imitation firearm.

I don't know if the cylindrical object was an M-80 or a pipe bomb, but the fact someone threw it at a police car tells me there is a very dangerous criminal out there.

PATERSON — A city police officer was injured when an explosive shattered his vehicle's windshield on Sunday night.

The state Attorney General's Office said the device was thrown at the vehicle on Presidential Boulevard while it was on the way to a call.

The explosion shattered the windshield and the force of the explosion affected the officer's hearing.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Teen carjacker crashed after struggle with bagel-buying car owner

A 17-year-old resident of Sicklerville is facing charges of carjacking after a daring attempt to steal a man's car outside the Jersey Bagel convenience store in Winslow took a dramatic turn on Monday morning.
View Quote

However, the quick-thinking owner, who had just exited the store, noticed the theft in progress and leaped into the passenger seat in an attempt to thwart the carjacking.

A struggle ensued between the car owner and the 17-year-old suspect, resulting in the vehicle colliding with two other cars near the bagel shop. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The teenager was subsequently charged with carjacking and taken into custody. He has been sent to the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center to await further legal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials commend the car owner's bravery and emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant, especially in public places. The incident serves as a reminder for residents to take precautions, such as turning off and securing their vehicles when left unattended, to deter opportunistic crimes.

N.J. Armed Robberies Make the Case for Carry

On the evening of Aug. 22, 2022, Powell, Diaz and Porter robbed a Passaic bodega of several thousand dollars while pointing their guns at a victim and threatening to kill him. Later that same evening, Powell, Diaz and Porter also robbed a Paterson business of several thousand dollars. During both robberies, Powell, Diaz and Porter menaced customers with handguns and ordered them to lie on the ground.

On the evening of Aug. 23, 2022, Diaz and Porter robbed a Passaic liquor store of several thousand dollars at gunpoint. While inside the store, Porter used his gun to pistol-whip a victim on the face. Later that evening, Diaz and Porter committed an additional gunpoint robbery of a business in Paterson. While inside the store, Porter pushed one victim and wrestled with a different victim, dragging the victim to the floor while attempting to take the victim's handbag.
View Quote
A solid takeaway here is that firearms are not going to be the answer to all problems when dealing with the criminal element. It's important however to highlight that if a citizen or worker at that first bodega was armed, we might be looking at a different narrative today.
