Having moved here from Colorado, yea was time to get outa that state.  Just wondering about purchasing a new toy.  And possibly selling a few.  Going to the show in Raleigh next weekend.  Don't have my CC permit yet, so just wondering about background checks and the procedure.  I have been here since August and have my NC driver license.  Thanks for the info.

Your DL over 30 days old ?.. if so your good..

Just pass the background check...

The 4473 has changed... so make sure you read every question before you answer.. its a little vague on some the questions now and most people make mistakes..

Welcome to North Carolina. This link is useful and it's worth joining. https://www.grnc.org/

The C&E show coming up is a little smaller than the Dixie gun show in early May (5 and 6).  The Old North State Antique Gun & Military Show (June 1 and 2) will sometimes yield good things and there's a lot less jerky and candles.

See Civiss's post above and....re the 4473....

Question 21.a Actual Transferee/Buyer:

The first sentence of Question 21a. has been changed from “Are you the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm(s) listed on this form and any continuation sheet(s) (ATF Form 5300.9A)?” to “Are you the actual transferee/buyer of all of the firearm(s) listed on this form and any continuation sheet(s) (ATF Form 5300.9A)?

New Question 21.b:

Do you intend to purchase or acquire any firearm listed on this form and any continuation sheet(s), or ammunition, for sale or other disposition to any person described in questions 21(c)-(m), or to a person described in question 21.n.1 who does not fall within a non immigrant alien exception?

To clarify: Question 21b is asking the transferee (customer) if they intend to sell or distribute any of the firearms, they are acquiring, to a person prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms?  The prohibited categories are listed in questions 21(c) – (m) and 21.n.1 (unless that person falls within a non immigrant exception).

New Question 21.c:

Do you intend to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm listed on this form and any continuation sheet(s) or ammunition in furtherance of any felony or other offense punishable by imprisonment for a term of more than one year, a Federal crime of terrorism, or a drug trafficking offense?

Thanks for the answers, yea looks like the 4473 has changed havent bought a new toy in a while, so I will pay attention for sure.

So now another question what are the regs for selling a long gun here in NC?

Thinking of funding a new project by selling a couple of closet queens.

FTF private sales of long guns are okay in NC.  To avoid having to go through an ffl, the buyer and seller must both be a resident of NC and the buyer must not be a prohibited person.  You can sell to out-of-state buyer but it has to go through an ffl.
