Can you hunt small game, specifically squirrels, in Pennsylvania with a semi-auto rimfire rifle? Magazine capacity? Also, can you use a suppressor?

Yes on semis for small game. No mag caps. Silencers are good to go.

I couldn’t find a straight forward answer in a reasonable amount of time looking in the Game Comission’s website. Shocker there, right? They seem to make things as confusing as possible on purpose. Note that suppressors are not mentioned, but it is well established that the PGC does not regulate suppressors. I rarely hunt without one and I have had several interactions with PGC folks in the field. Regarding deer season and antlerless, this year's regular season (11/25 to 12/9) appears to allow harvest of both bucks and does in all of the WMAs. This changes yearly and can vary by WMA. However, per page 24 of the guide, it says regular season is open for both antlers and antlerless statewide. That is the same for for both residents and non-residents. So yes, if you have a doe tag, you can harvest a doe on opening day. ETA link to downloadable PGC guide |

Same here on suppressors, I'll probably never hunt without one again, other than bird hunting with a shotgun.

Don't feel silly... with the number of advertisements and the way the guide is organized, it is a tough guide to use quickly.

What are the PA restrictions on it? No semi-auto, I assume. Barrel length restriction? And minimum calibers, I’m sure. |

I'm pretty sure the Carlisle range is where a few years back a guy was on a rifle range with some ARs by himself, went downrange to hang targets and someone shot him with his own rifle and stole all his stuff. Pretty sure they were caught. I mostly had good experiences at PGC ranges and went a few years where I spent a lot of time at them, but that was always a slight concern of mine when solo. |

I went to the PGC range once or twice when I first moved here. I quickly joined a private club and have no desire to return. Totally unsafe behavior was just starters.
