Told him to retract this bill, stop restricting inanimate objects and work on the criminals etc. included the screenshot of the bill. This is what I got back:
Carroll, Danny (State Sen.) (LRC) Attachments8:54 AM (3 hours ago) to me: "Why on God's green earth would we allow those under 21 to possess these weapons when we don't allow them to possess handguns?? Doing something in response to the mass shootings is better than nothing." Sent from my iPhone |

Maybe someone ought to point out that the deadliest attack in history was a Molotov Cocktail thrown into a busy building? Is he ready to ban glass bottles and alcohol? Or maybe we should point out that most "mass shooters" are liberals that are trying to make a statement? Maybe we ought to outlaw leftists? Or maybe we should point out that the recent bank shooter in Louisville did his attack in order to provoke more gun control laws? |

Shocking to be from a republican - if it is…
Edit to add: Sent it to Damon Thayer and asked if it was likely to see the light of day. He responded “Unlikely!!!!” |

This bill received a committee assignment today to VMAP
https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/record/24rs/sb187.html I'm fairly confident there's 6 no votes here if it even receives a hearing. (ETA: I'm extremely confident there's 4 yes votes however) https://legislature.ky.gov/Committees/Pages/Committee-Details.aspx?CommitteeRSN=191&CommitteeType=Senate%20Standing%20Committee |

There are a few that they drag their feet on that kind of stuff. I've noticed that the bills that get to committee the same day or next tend to actually pass. Unfortunately, it's the strongest indicator that the legislature "leadership" rely more on personal alliances than how much merit a bill has. |

Perhaps the “committee on committees” is considered a committee - because SB13 is dying in there since 1-25. |

It's not supposed to be a committee...
But yeah, they don't follow their own procedural rules. |

For once, I'm glad they're breaking their own rules... probably because they don't want to go on record with a yes/no vote in cmte. (ETA - regarding SB13 CARR issue) Rule 54. Reference of Bills. The Committee on Committees shall refer all bills to the proper standing committee not later than the fifth day in which the Senate is in session after the date of introduction |

[#24]
IIRC, The House has suspended that rule due to "Covid" and they haven't reinstated it.
It does make tracking bills much easier if they aren't even a committee. |
