In light of this thread about the worst hotels, I just cancelled a booking in Seattle after reading more reviews of the place.
July of this year I need a 1 night stay on 2 separate nights for the missus and I. We are flying in/out of SEA-TAC for an Alaska cruise. Anyone have a recommendation for a decent, affordable place to stay near the airport? Missus would also like to tour downtown proper if possible. |

Define "affordable". SeaTac has a bunch of large chain hotels that are nice and clean, but you'll pay more for them. But it also has a bunch of seedy, cheap motels around it. Look at different review sites to see what others have said. I generally like to look at the worst reviews to see if there are any common complaints, or if somebody just had a one-off experience.

If your cruse is on Norwegian out of Pier 66 the Edgewater Hotel is a block away.
We've stayed at the Edgewater in the Pearl Jam suite and it was very cool with great water views. It is also walking distance to Pike Place and the Space Needle. I haven't stayed near the airport but there are a bunch of chain hotels there, personally I would choose something like the Hilton or Marriott where I could walk to the light rail station to get to downtown. |

We've stayed at La Quinta in seatac several times. Free shuttle to and from SeaTac Airport and very reasonably priced. I think they might have free parking for a week, not sure if they still have that.
