In light of this thread about the worst hotels, I just cancelled a booking in Seattle after reading more reviews of the place.

July of this year I need a 1 night stay on 2 separate nights for the missus and I. We are flying in/out of SEA-TAC for an Alaska cruise.

Anyone have a recommendation for a decent, affordable place to stay near the airport? Missus would also like to tour downtown proper if possible.

Define "affordable".  SeaTac has a bunch of large chain hotels that are nice and clean, but you'll pay more for them.  But it also has a bunch of seedy, cheap motels around it.  Look at different review sites to see what others have said.  I generally like to look at the worst reviews to see if there are any common complaints, or if somebody just had a one-off experience.

We've stayed at  La Quinta in seatac several times.  Free shuttle to and from SeaTac Airport and very reasonably priced. I think they might have free parking for a week, not sure if they still have that.
