My wife and I will be visiting Roswell at the end of May and I am wondering on the knife laws.  I have a CCW permit and am a state probation officer licensed to carry also.  I have looked up New Mexico knife laws online and they are very confusing to me.  Is a manual opening Benchmade with a pocket clip illegal, what about a three inch straight blade knife in a belt sheath.  Thanks for all your help.

I’m not sure of the knife laws here & I’ve lived here most of my adult life. I know “automatic” knives are supposedly illegal, but are sold in almost every LGS &  at all gun shows I’ve been to.

I’ve seen cowboys in my area carry big fixed blade knife’s on their  belts & no one bats an eye. I’ve had a few interactions with PD (traffic stops) & they’ve never once asked me about knifes in my pocket or on my belt. I don’t think it’s a big deal here despite what the law is.

I think we have a few officers on here, will they chime in on this thread? Let’s hope.
