I’m not a native Vermonter so I don’t know which facilities are where, but I recently helped my neighbor’s son get a job with UVM hospital security. I think they are the same at all locations. He’s a bright kid working his way through college with no military or law enforcement experience and started out around $33 an hour plus shift differential.

I thought that was fair considering one of the small town PDs offered a friend who was an experienced cop from NH a starting wage of $20 about seven years ago. Obviously he laughed and walked but it was an eye-opening lesson to me; I’m from MA where I made more than that as a new cop even 25 years ago.
