The patrol hydrofoil, USS Aries, is currently moored on the Gasconade River near its confluence with the Missouri River. This is the last remaining PHM among a class of six. I remember reading about these when I was much younger and I loved the concept of a small, fast and lethal patrol boat.

Glad to see we have something here in the state. I can remember going onboard the WWII Coast Guard ship that was moored at the St Louis river front as a kid.

I had no idea that was here. If you follow the link provided on the site the OP posted, there's a history about how this thing came to Missouri. It's always fascinating to see how people take their interests to extremes.

Too bad there isn't a video of it actually running up on its foils.
This one has a few stills showing it, but no actual video.
