If I'm not building a true clone is there any reason to to go with the Gen 3 rather than the current generation? Is the gusset and square latching mechanism better/stronger?

View Quote I have no direct comparison as far as durability but I can say that the Gen 3 is more difficult to install in regards to removing wobble. I can see why they went the castlenut route with the Gen 4. I prefer the look of the Gen 3 over my gen 4. |

This release was just over 160 units total. The next batches should be coming in shortly and I'll announce the restock time and dates when they're established. Thank you guys for all the support and patronage!

Put this in the H thread, but figure I’ll throw it in here as well.
Got the stock on an H&R M16A1 lower last week with a no name LPK. Feels very solid and the adjustments feel smooth with no movement. Attached File |

Can these still be purchased? If so, can someone provide a link? I'd like to buy 2, please!
*EDIT* Nevermind! Found link on page 3 and FO'ed. |

The Gen 4 locking mechanism is stronger, the lock has more surface area along the tube than the Gen 3. The extended castle nut gives as much reinforcement support to the buffer tube as the gusset, but is much easier to install. Thanks, Jesse |

After that it locks up nice and tight…though I haven’t put an upper on the lower yet nor fired any rounds with it, haha. But I totally think it’s gonna be awesome. |

I bought some OEM ACE stuff at SAR in Phoenix earlier in the month.
I've got 3 original Gen 3 SOCOM-L buttstocks, appear new. One original SOCOM Gen 3 appears to be slightly used, but stops look good. and I found 30 original 1/2” buttpads that are from 2007, they have a bit more tackiness than the later ones (these were in the original shipping box from Bob Weir to a manufacturer dated June of 2007, before we purchased ACE). If anyone is interested email me at [email protected] these are not in inventory or on the site, I purchased these personally. If you PM me here I'm slower to respond because I don't get a notification to my phone unlike my email. Thanks, Jesse |

It's a shame that the threads were made on the thin side of tolerances.... my stock is once again loose, with 5 layers of Teflon tape and some elec tape on it, after shooting another 50rnds.
Whoever ran the CNC really needs to get a 75% engagement thread profile and not whatever this is. There is no thickness at the pitch dia (it's sharp = too thin on the 60 peak) and I have front-back movement in my lowers with it threaded in. My mod H lower is already sloppy from the older OG one coming loose all the time.....that's why I sold them all....I actually shoot this thing. This entire stock is craptastic as we know, and making the threads not so deep and leaving some chordial width on the + side would just have made it nice and snug in a spec lower. Could have given it more of a fighting chance on a lower. /MachinistRant |

I bought a few of these stocks and was going to try installing one in a GM Hydra clone lower for my Mod H build... then I realized I don't know if I even have a buffer and spring for it! My first thought was that a Mod H would need a rifle buffer like the Mod 0/1, but these stocks are carbine length, correct? So H2 + standard spring g2g for Mod H? |

View Quote All depends on your gassing and carrier speeds. I run a normal carbine buffer, but I also tune my gassing. The ace is carbine spring and buffer tho |

Thanks. I'll probably try a standard H2 first and see how it goes.
