I have a bit of an odd project that I just don't trust any local gunsmiths with and i was hoping you could help me out.
I have a ban era DSA SA58 (FAL clone) that I would like cut, threaded, and SiCo ASR flash hider permanently attached to bring it back to 16". It is complicated because they machined in the muzzle brakes on these which might make it a bit tight to fit the threads.
so my questions are;
barrel is .580" thick at the portion that would be threaded I am assuming this buys me into 9/16x24 LH as i don't believe this leaves room for 5/8x24. Is this correct?
I am also concerned about the barrel real estate for threading, I measure a little under .6" from the back of the brake until the barrel thickens again. I am assuming the machining could go back into the thicket portion creating a collar for the sling but I don't know for sure, I don't mind sacrificing the sling.
