My e-from 4 for my silencer has been over 90 days waiting to certify. My dealer says they have been coming back in 77 days or sooner. Could there be a problem or has the wait time increased? Forget trying to call Silencer Shop or even E-chat.

Best time to call SS is 9:03 Central Time. Pretty much every time I have called then... I get a live person within about 5 min.
I don't know how much they will be able to tell you though. I suspect the ATF has started slow rolling eForm approvals....(and Form 4's in general)... although I hope that not the case. I'm on about day 45 after certifying for an eForm, and over 10 months since the tax check was cashed on a paper form. |
90 days is not guaranteed, but you should be close. I had an eForm 4 through SS approved yesterday that was 98 days. For better or for worse, SS has been playing up the 90 day number and cherry-picking very low wait time approvals on IG and YT. The average is likely around 90 days, but there’s going to be some that are longer and shorter. It doesn’t seem as if the ATF is doing first in first out.

Appreciate the reply's, good to know. I was starting to think something was wrong and someone was going to come out and shoot my dog

Have you been waiting 90 days to certify or for your approval from the ATF? |

But I also certified a Rugged 556 on 4/18. I wonder if they will approve them together? |

I'm waiting on a SureFire suppressor submitted to the ATF on 2/5 and an Occulus submitted on 2/7. I'm definitely starting to get nervous that something is amiss. Is it worth calling the ATF and checking up on things?

I was certed on a Recce5 on Feb 4th. Hoping soon.
Ive heard different things about the 90 day target date. First its 90 calendar days, then 90 business days. Id be interested to hear how the ATF do it. |
Dont call it a comeback, Been here for years.
Mine took 137 days and a lot of people have been reporting 120+ days. I think the volume is catching up, and that’s more the norm right now than 90 days.
I'm over 1 year on a paper form..... and 124 days on an eForm. :(
I spoke to the AFT this morning and they said their goal is 90 days, but the volume has increased
I certified my Efile on Feb 11th and I’m still waiting for my approval.
Up to 142 days and counting on a 11-23-2021 purchase that was finally certified on Feb 14th, 2022.
Yee hah! I got my approvals on both the Surefire (149 days) and the Occulus (151 days). Substantially longer than 90 days, but I'm glad to finally have them.

Now at 154 days on a eform 4 and 120 days on a form 1. The ATF website FTATF showing current processing times is a crock of shit. Calling and getting some smug cunt on the phone makes my day even better.

The ATF processing times are for NFA forms approved prior to June 30th.. Your forms have fuck all to do with the averages shown on the ATF website because yours have not been approved. When yours are approved the number of days it took will go into the averages for the next ATF update. If you had an form approved prior to June 30 and it was approved in 87 days, you did better than the average. If you had an form approved prior to June 30 and it was approved in 300 days, you did worse than average. Neither makes the ATF times a crock of shit. NO ONE ON THIS PLANET KNOWS what the processing time will be for a form submitted today, NO ONE. |

During Covid when NFA Examiners were working from home, I would see quite a few Sat/Sun approval dates. I remember one was July 4th. |

Waiting excessive time frames for something that should by all accounts be considered a safety device…. Is lame. I can feel your pain as I have two cans in jail at the moment. Past the estimated 90 days.
Truth is,,,, Silencer shop should not advertise 90 days as they have no control over when the ATF does anything.. I knew that going into this however, as my last paper form took over a year. That does not include the time it took to go to the police station to get fingerprinted the post office to get passport photos taken and then back to the police department to hand over LEO copies of the finished paper work… yada yada So their system is much improved over the old school methods no doubt… I certified my first E file may 3rd, and I am betting that I’ll get approved sometime in November or December. Sooner is better.. it might even take a little longer.. I will still be E forming another can in December regardless…. We can’t really blame anyone other then American public of 1934, for letting the NFA Act pass in the first place.. while I doubt we will ever be able to repeal it , not at least with the political state of this country. We need to stay active and try to educate folks so that same exact scenario does not happen again. Imagine doing this for a semi auto for example. So the fact we are irritated at this nonsense is good… it’s a cold hard slap to remind you what happens when you let politicians and special interest groups run amok …. Remember this nonsense every time you go to the polls or (better yet when you are thinking about not going to the polls). .. |
