On a hunting rifle may be fine but not an AR. Take a look at the Credo line. They have a Credo HX (Vortex sheen, designed for hunting) and the Credo (matte finish, designed for tactical). Sure Vortex continues to push on with the Razor line with a somewhat matte purple FDE? But now at that OVERpriced point and the massive weight penalty, why bother? In my view this company defies logic in so many ways. Look at the PST Gen II line (made in Philippines); That eyepiece circumference and having to add an ancient outdated clamping lever (Cost 60.00!!!!). And the lever is matte anodized so it doesnt even match the scope! Spend the extra funds on a Leupold Mark 5, Trijicon Credo or Tenmile for some savings (japanese glass), or even Primary Arms GLX or PLX line.
Until Vortex gets their act together I wont be buying ever again. FYI: Hey, I tried but I am returning the 2 PST Gen II optics and going back to where quality and value is.

This is a very weird rant.
you say the only problem with the PST Gen II 1-6x is the anodizing isn’t matte enough for you… because this $500 scope’s finish isn’t as “tactical” looking as other maker’s $900-$1100 scopes? So you’re surprised/displeased that you could have gotten better fit and finish if you’d spent twice as much on another makers top tier LPVO instead of a 7 year old middling Philippine LPVO.
Then complain that the Razor (designed for rough handling in 3Gun and deployments) being too heavy. It’s what… like 3oz heavier than a Credo (on probably someone’s 8LB gun). Hint: the razors toughness, clarity, large eyebox and seamless ocular is why they’re so popular for 3-gun and military deployments. As for being too expensive; it’s price is similar to many other Japanese 1-6x LPVO on the market (vudu, T6Xi, tango6, sai, VX6).
Then you complain about eyepiece diameters. PST Gen2, Razor, VX5 and VX6 are all 1.8” eyepiece diameter and the credo is 1.7” … so basically all about the same.
Your rant can be solved by a $9 can of krylon and simply understanding you get what you pay for. The only way this rant even kind of makes sense is if you’re paying MSRP/MAP for vortex stuff… which is also retarded. You can find the PST II for $450-600 and Razor Gen IIe for $1100-1250. Credos are like $900 and mk5 1-5x are $900 and mk6 1-6 are $1100.
Can’t wait to read your thread on why Tacoma’s suck because the F-250 and 2500HD can do so much more.
