I carry a flashlight daily on my belt. I have been a Mini Maglight fan for a while. Well, I have gone through about 4 in the last 2 years and have grown tired of them failing on me. The last 2 were LED's, but faired no better on the reliability.
What is your daily carry compact flashlight? Surefire? Inova? Looking for ideas. I use them multiple times daily, job related (many times looking deep into animals mouths.....probably why I am having the troubles). Any input appreciated. Prefer small size (not full size flashlight). Doc |

I carry a AA Mag Lite with LED conversion.
My Surefire G2 is a dedicated weapon light. |
|
Surefire C2 Centurian (65 lumen lamP)
If I needed a new one, prolly a G2 LED or L2 |
|
Surefire G2 with the rechargeable conversion. I wanna try the LED version next.

I used to keep a 2AAA Pelican Mitylite on my person, but their lamps aren't too sturdy, and it fails to light after a few months in my pocket. I have since switched to a 4AAA cell Princeton-Tec with a high output incandescent xenon lamp. Lights up really bright, and uses common AAA cells.

I carry a G2Z with a Cree LED drop-in. An awesome light.
In my wallet I carry an ARC 1AAA LED. Very sad they were driven out of business. |

Dorsy Metal Gear, they were on clearance at Walmart for, get this...$2.00 yes $2.00. I bought all they had. Nice little lite.
Dorcy Metal Gear |

I carry a Streamlight TL-3.
3 cell 123 Lithium, 200 lumen output. Nifty functional pocket clip, like a Spyderco knife. Superbright, reliable, and not nearly as pricey ($65) as a comparably powered Surefire, so I won't be kicking screaming and breaking things if I lose it. Streamlight is a quality maker. I have the Twin-Task and it's a good light too - dual LED and xenon bulb. Q - Does anyone make rechargeable CR123 batteries yet? |

I carry a Surefire 6P and E2e. I am looking to upgrade to the L4. I own a bunch of lights but thoes two are always with me.

YES, I found some at Meijers. I don't recall who makes them but I will check next time I'm there. My friend bought several to take to Iraq to sell to his buddies. It was the charger and 2 batteries for about $25. |

Surefire E2D in LH Pocket.
Surefire X200A either on belt or on my 229 Surefire 951 on my rifle that has a 10.5 upper procured from Crane that I cant call a Mk18 |

Check out the Jetbeam C-LE V2 or the LumaPower LM31, both are very bright use one AA battery and cost around $30. Go to www.candlepowerforums.com and go down to the Dealers forum page and you can find links to both. Also, they have a low and high settings.

On the road, I carry a Fenix L1D CE cree edition. Everyone who sees it has to know where I got it!
At home I don't bother to get it out of my back pack so I carry my P2D CE. Its my favorite light, but I just carry AA battery lights for my GHB. I keep enough batteries to go for months with my home based lights and can carry enough batteries to go for at least a month on regular usage in my BOB. |
|
Photon II on my keyring.
I never ceased to be amazed at the amount of stuff some folks carry everyday. Or at least claim to carry. |
|
Fenix LOD.

I'm one of those fossils who still wears a suit, so I don't carry a flashlight. But I do always put a Princeton Tec Pulsar in my pocket before going to work. In the center console of the Jeep, there's a Streamlight 2L TwinTask. In the back of the Jeep, there's a no-name 2D light, plus whatever is in the BOB (I honestly don't have a clue anymore, but I know there are a couple). In the desk at work is a Princeton Tec 40 and a MiniMag.
None of those are the best choices, but they're okay and they're what I've got. |

You wanted a light for daily carry, and said youve had trouble with lights failing. That means you will probably want LED lights, since they tend to be more durable than incandescent lights. The most power efficient and bright LEDs these days are Cree (an american company), SSCP4 (seoul brand licensed Cree technology), and Luxeon REBEL.
My daily carry is a Fenix LOD ce. very small, dont even really notice it. Bright enough for working. Its an awsome little light. My toolbelt light is just a cheepy "element" light I got from sam's club. its exactly the right size for my tool pouch. sturdiest light Ive ever had. Been through so much abuse its amazing. I dont think they sell this version anymore though. The light I keep in my BOB is a Fenix L2Dce, its a great light. If you want one similar in size to the minimaglite (slightly smaller than the minimag), Fenix L2D ce or Fenix L2T version 2.0. Both have multiple lighting modes, the L2D has more modes but costs more. The L2T just has 2 modes, low and OMG. Both lights take 2AA batteries. Fenix makes some really nice lights, you can probably find one that fits your size/brightness/battery type needs. They are more expensive than buying maglites or dorcy and the like, but they have excellent power regulation and will get more from your batteries. They are well made and durable. the downside is that they are made in china, if that is important to you. http://fenix-store.com/ If you dont like online shopping, Target and walmart sell some ok lights. Dorcy, rock river, inova. If you dont want to spend the money for a quality light, there are some decent lights to be found at DealExtreme.com. Some are junk, but there are some real gems in there. My favorite is the sku 5346. Its would make a pretty good working light, and is pocket size. I have one. And if you have a big budget, its hard to go wrong with surefire. They have alot of offerings these days, but most use the cr123 batteries, so you would have to keep a stock of them. Cr123 batteries are expensive in regular stores, but can be had online much cheeper. |

Pentagon X2 LED.
VERY bright, good finish, sturdy, relatively cheap. Only downside is a fairly short peak operating time. ~1 hour. And it uses CR123a batteries. Which aren't cheap, either. |
|
Main light is either a Gladius or a Surefire L2
Low Light backup is a CMG Infinity around neck. I also have a County Com Red SOLED in a pocket organizer On my helmet at work I also use a SF 6P |
|
Fenix P1D in left pocket and Fenix L0D with keys. Both Cree and bright.

|
i carry the ed2 as well. no cree led repleacement head yet it seems, though im hoping for one.
