As the title states, I have some Homer buckets with different beans and different rice types, also oats and pasta - sealed in mylar with oxygen absorbers.

I stored them in the basement so it's a decent environment.

We're renovating and I have to make space which may mean getting rid of some of our storage.  I plan to restock after the renovation.

These buckets are dated about eight years old.   I've heard stories of weevils and such in stored rice.  If they might still be good I'll find a way to keep them, but if they are near expiration I'll dump them.

Thank you in advance!

If they're sealed and kept dry, pretty much indefinitely.

If you have weevil or moth issues, check the bags carefully if they look like they've lost the seal. Moths can, and will chew through plastics to get into bags.  Weevils I'm not so sure of, but I've had moths do it.  But if the O2 absorbers have still kept the bags tight, I wouldn't worry about it.

I cycled through all of my old stored rice last year.  Stored in 2-liter bottles, it was from 2012, and was just fine.  Probably could have lasted for years more.

Beans will outlast you…..but you may have to soak them or pressure cook them. I’ve cooked up batches that were 18 years old and had to pre soak them to soften them up. Tasted fine, just harder than usual. They were stored in buckets in mylar with O2 absorbers
