I found this from a Google search on the interwebs. It is cheap, it works well. I can't attest to longevity, as I'm just making shelving in my storage trailer now, but so far I'm happy. It doesn't want to fall off, but can be pulled off fairly easily, so a bead of silicone calk on application would adhere it permanently.

I used that on my propane tanks top and bottom. No more scratching things setting the bottle down.

You can also stop by local machine shops and ask them if you can get saw blade edge protectors, they get thrown away when you put a new saw blade on, I grab most of ours
