I’m looking for someone to modify a barrel.
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

I initially thought these were simple mods, but everyone these days wants to “cut & thread only”

Here is a brief explanation of the work needed.
The barrel material is stainless steel.
Let me know what you would charge, I can send cash in the package… and I’ll include a prepaid return shipping label.

Scope of work

2 Items:
1). Cut flats on both sides (circled in Red)
2). Turn front portion of barrel to .750, approx. 3.125” length (circled in Blue)

You don't have a machine shop in the area?  Doesn't have to be a gunsmith.  That looks like an easy 30 minute job for anyone with a lathe and mill.

On the flat cuts, does it matter what angle the transition taper is?

Hi cheeks, good question sir!
No requirement for transition taper. As long as the flats can be gripped with a 5/8 wrench, that is the only criteria.

Check with Spartan Rifles. They said they would do some barrel profiling for me.

Anyone with a Bridgeport and a lathe could knock that out in 20 minutes.

Thomas Pola at Paladin Machine can do it for you, quick, reasonable, and it will be nicely done.  Make sure he knows those are 5/8" wrench flats.
His email is tp555-work (insert @) vfemail.net

Do the wrench flats need to be indexed to anything in particular or simply parallel with each other and roughly centered on the barrel?
