I realize the word budget doesn't really go with anything related to the ammo prices we're currently seeing...but I mean budget in regards to the "standard" $35+/box FGMM.

I'd like to find something more in the $20 or less price range that's decently accurate for days when I just want to go mess around shooting steel at 600 yards, etc. Doesn't need to be sub MOA ammo like the FGMM performs in my rifle, but something that's decent enough. So far all I've tried was some cheap 150GR Armscor stuff. In my particular rifle it can barely do a 5 shot group under 2" at 100 yards. I've gotten as good as .9" with FGMM.

Said rifle is a HOWA 1500 Oryx in case it matters.

The 175g GGG ammo is pretty accurate for me

.92 cpr and free shipping with prime ammo membership.  I get around 1 MOA out of a DD5v3 if I do my part.  My friend had 5 rounds touching out of a Ruger American 308.

S&B HPBT in 168g and 175g used to be quite the bargain compared to FGMM.

I don't know if they still make it, but Hornady American Gunner 155gr ammo is fantastic.

Have you considered hand loading?  I can build ammunition for my rifle that is better (more accurate / consistent) than any factory ammunition I have tried and at a substantially lower cost.  My pre-pandemic price per round was about 40 cents per round.  Post-pandemic, that has gone up to about 65 cents per round!  Another advantage to rolling your own is that you can develop loads for any given purpose - your steel ringing ammunition would (probably) be built differently (different components / technique) than your hunting ammunition, etc...

Jut a thought, YMMV.

I would love to but honestly, number 1 don’t have a good space to do it and number 2, it all kind of seems overwhelming to get started.

Norma .308 Ball was a great round but i dont think they make them anymore. and my 700 does not like any of the other cheap light 147/150gr ball stuff.

Sometimes you get decent prices on razer core 175gr, thats what i use.
