So for a what if red dawn ww3 Russia or China invaded type scenario has anyone thought of how they would incorporate some sort of SAW type gunner? Guys have their cqb set up or their recce set up but nobody talks about having a guy that can lay down some base of fire. Would you make the weirdo guy who runs a piston gun be it and everyone hands him their magpul or Surefire 60 rounders? But seriously a light bipod and some drums could basically be like a m27 IAR? Or do you guys think maybe a guy lugging a AR10/scar with some x drums or magpul drums makes more sense?

07/02 manufacturer and dealer. I believe we should all be heavily armed, let me help you get there!

Is that something you’ve actually used is just what you would use? The price on those is pretty high.

Rpk, 5x 60 rnd mags with a fat sack of 40rnd mags. Padded blue force gear sling. Detachable side tail and 2x prism optic. Need a dead air wolverine.

Something with a heavy barrel. Gonna get toasty. I remember a member on here a few years back came up with an AR built similarly to an RPK for exactly what you're describing.

A heavy barrel for sure or a piston set up. If I had a DI gun I think an inconnel gas tube was something had been tossed around as a way to handle the heat.

I see you run a DI, is it 16/18/20? I kind of think the idea of one is cool. |

What kind of groups are you getting out of it? ETA Looks like a 150rd SAW-MAG? Is that worth the $$? |

Groups are like a machinegun, so body size at 100 yards.
I've been disappointed with the SAW MAG. I need to contact the manufacturer and have them try to fix it as it never worked right. It runs great off of Magpul D60's and Surefire 60's. |

A friend sent me a link to this upper. I think it would be fun to try on my M16.
https://www.redrighthandllc.com/product/recce-lmg/ I'd like to see a closeup of the gas tube. |

I saw that upper, they run a heavy barrel with a heat sink, it’s a normal gas tube but it has its own heat sink.

Now the question is how do you carry the ammo for such a set up?

What, for drums? SAW pouches, canteen pouches, GP pouches, whatever works. 40 rounders in standard open top pouches.
Theres a thread discussing this concept of an RPK type dedicated sustained fire AR, un AR Discussions, I think. Here it is: https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/AR-RPK-Build-Pictures-Ideas/118-782670/ |
