Shootsteel SRRT - pistol?

The Shootsteel Short ranged rifle target instructions specify it's for rifle and not pistol...is anybody shooting pistol at these things closer than 25 yd? Any issues? What exactly is the reason they recommend 25 rather than the normal accepted 10 yd standoff?
