I really, really hope you are not using it to store flammable gas or liquids. It has no pressure relief valve. Can you spell BOOM!

It's no doubt fuel.
And to another poster, I had 3 120 gallon hot water tanks go through a range fire that burned almost every thing, the bottoms bulged but they did not Blem. Rancher |

OP's left over hot air.
Sorry, couldn't resist. Sure hope it's not shine. |

Using it to contain weed spray or something?
Use pressurized air to spray it out of the tank, I admit you don't have fittings hooked up but figured this was the "drive around at silly speeds to mix things up a bit" part and once you do that you can hook up the hose and spray gun parts. I could see keeping old oil in it if you have a future use for the old oil, perhaps an oil drip on a wood stove or something during the winter months. And just cause it is you, how bout some bear repellant. Though I do like the pics you post I am glad it is not my stuff having to stand up to the bear test. |

Good ideas Biere and Otto...
You guys are gonna be sooo pissed at me... |

Leave the trailer parked outside the local airport. I'll bet they would want to make guesses too.

In for the H2S buildup! Raw sewage in anaerobic conditions, what's the worst that can happen... Well, it ain't here so I guess we're gonna find out... Oh, wait, I can point a remote cam on it, just a minute... |

Can't see the trailer for other stuff, but no poop splattered on the walls -yet...
I'll put a gage on the valve before opening it and report the internal pressure. You guys are scaring the shit otta me now.... |

View Quote Yep, sucks for my SO to have to wear a gun just grilling chikin... She was moving rocks yesterday and noticed a pile of bear poop where it wasn't a short time before, she was running a machine too. There's a path lined with smaller rocks and she walked down it and fixed the rocks the bears turn over looking for ants. At one place she fixed there wasn't any poop. A little while later, she took the Cat back to collect a big rock to relocate, and there was a nice pile right where she fixed the rocks. I think they do that to send a message of friendship -or frustration... |

You guys trying to scare me for nuthin...
Went and opened the valve on the tank and all that happened was -poop blew out all over me and the trailer... No, wait, that isn't what happened at all. Air was sucked back into the tank due to the change in altitude. So much for all the anaerobic science and stuff... You guys need to go back to septic tank school... |

Too bad you couldn't separate the methane and nitrous oxide out of the fumes and run one of your generators on it...

I guess its because we're so -special... If it's fresh waste it will take a few days to get the bacteria levels high enough to start working it's magic. If it came out of an established septic tank etc have you been treating it or exposing it to anything that could kill/alter the bacterial life of the system? |

I thought for SURE it was another of your many bulk Sta-Bil purchases! After seeing you express your love for the stuff so prophetically it was the first thing that came to mind.

A question for technical folks...
I'd like to pull a partial vacuum on the tank in the original post to assist in transferring a slurry of material in 1 1/4" corrugated flexible tubing. Tubing is about 40' long and is presently pumped with a common 12 vdc macerator pump designed for this application, altho likely for not so long a distance/ head pressure. Normally these pumps transfer the processed slurry a few feet to a dump station port. They will in our experience transfer waste 50 feet and more in 1 inch tubing, but with some strain on the pump, depending on the consistency of the slurry. So, I'd like to provide some assist to the flow and pulling a vacuum on the tank, no so much differently from a septic waste collection system for emptying Porta-Johns, for example, would be an easy solution. I was thinking of using a regenerative blower, but these are expensive and the lower cost used ones on eBay are usually 220 3 phase. In the mountains, I have the option of 12 vdc or a Honda 2000 watt genny, without moving the tank to the 3 phase genny and a lot of hassle. What small sort of pump could pull say, 15" Hg on the 40 gallon tank in not more than 5 or ten minutes, and operate on the available power? |

Trust me, I know used hot water tanks, I re-purposed solar 120 gallon tanks (4) for storing diesel fuel, the heater element is not NPT, it is NPS, ie straight thread not tapered, Use JB weld on a tapered plug.
They are glass lined tanks, store fuel just great. Rancher |
