It is bewildering how anyone could see this and think it's okay. This should only apply to mobile devices, while proper desktops and laptops keep the previous interface. I don't know of a single website that kept a good desktop experience after redesigning for mobile use.  (most mobile websites suck too.)

+1 for way too big and too much dead space on PC.  I scaled down to 80% and I still need to scroll to see each reply.

As someone who uses this site probably 75% on my desktop at work I find the new site way more difficult to navigate. I liked the bar across the top with the different forums instead of the drop down menu. Also, the wasted space in the threads now makes it difficult to read. I would like to see a classic version as an option if possible. While I would agree that there were things that needed to be updated on this site I think the complete revamping may have gone a little bit to far.

Pretty much what I'm thinking.  I'm sure there will be a learning curve and bugs to work out but my old eyes sure appreciate the improved readability.

Any way I can get embedded youtube videos on the mobile site to fit to screen in the browser ?

Half the video is out of the screen and you can not zoom out or center.

You have to go to YouTube to watch.

It's currently the only way I see for those who find it too large. Doesn't take much time to change when viewing other sites.

I can see 3 of these "Fat" posts here on my laptop.

When I first logged on this AM it was Yuge!

Then I adjusted my screen size and everything is back to normal for me.

Most of us with "old eyes" use reading glasses.  This new format seriously reminds me of when Windows went to that ridiculous giant icon operating system a few years ago.

How can ANYONE look at this and say "oh yeah!  This is good stuff!  I really like the way the discussion titles and avatars take up at least a third of my screen now.  Because I LOVE to scroll, and scroll, and scroll....."

Where are all the damn hot buttons?  Replaced by drop down menus?  WHY?

In my Chrome browser it does.  If I change the font in one tab it affects all the tabs.  In any case, the damn avatars and titles are taking up a RIDICULOUS amount of space.  Why do they extend all the way across the page now?  Is this considered such important information that it has to take up a third of the screen?

Also, you would think highlighting an ignored user's post in GIANT red is counterproductive to ignoring them, no?

On my laptop it only changes ARFCOM.

Every other browser tab I open is normal size meaning what I have it set on before.

I keep it a little larger than some so I don't have to use reading glasses.

Not to join the dogpile too much, but I strongly agree with the complaints regarding too much empty/wasted space when viewing on a PC.  It makes scrolling through threads a chore and aesthetically appears very fragmented.

Also, I think that the "sticky bar" should be able to be customized with different links from the "forum tools" drop down and links to different forums. As it is right now, it takes more clicks to reach subscriptions than it did before. Being able to access pages of our choosing with a single click would be much more useful than seeing a persistent icon/link to Gunstruction and the ARFcom store, both of which, I assume, most people rarely want/need to access quickly.

Most websites have a mobile version that is formatted for those of us, including myself, who use smart phones.  Was this too expensive?   I don't like the changes overall, they make it a serious chore to use on a laptop.  Even after playing with the font sizes for an hour I still can't find a comfortable balance.

It worked just fine before.  Why not just add in a redirect for a mobile version???

One suggestion:  When I am typing a response, and I click "END" on my keyboard to go to the end of the line, it acts as "PAGE DOWN".

I see the page numbering issue has not been fixed - ie, sometimes when you click the green arrow, it takes you to one page before the last page - but doesn't give you an option to go to the actual last page, b/c it doesn't show it.  You have to manually change the page number in the URL to access the actual last post.  This has been a persistent problem for some time, and I would have expected that to be taken care of in the redesign.

Furthermore, doing this will change the size of EVERYTHING on the page. Sure, it makes the general interface smaller so I can see more on my screen, but it makes EVERYTHING else smaller to the point where the text is unreadable.

The SCALE must change, not simply the overall size.

I'm in FF now and by default it's noticeably smaller than Chrome. Additionally, when I change size using cntrl - or +, it changes only the size of the tab I'm in with FF. Changes all tabs in Chrome.
