How do you guys like to approach the WODs?

They rarely incorporate target stroke or heart rate. In cycling there are 2 main schools of thought; HR zone training, and power output. I'd like to measure performance over time based on something a little more than just raw speed.

Curious how others decide on training targets/goals for the C2 WOD or other fitness programs. Do you just get on there and rip it as fast as you can? Shoot for a consistent heart rate over duration? Focus on consistent stroke rate and speed?

I still am but I’ve really dialed it back though. . . I just do 7K four times a week now which ends up to be 118K or so per month.  I was doing 8K almost every day (240K in July) but ended up injuring my elbow. .

I’m only at 2:15 - 2:16 per 500m at that distance and my HR is right around the mid-130’s.  I’d like to be able to get down to a 2:10/500m at those distances but I think at my age, those days are probably behind me.

* I’m closing in on 4M meters and the machine still looks and functions like new.  I did change out the seat to an EndureRow early on and it has really worked well for me.

@TNC yes sir!
Fall Team Challenge
September 15–October 15

The Fall Team Challenge is a challenge where team members each individually try to reach either 100,000 meters or 200,000 meters between September 15 and October 15. Meters may be accumulated on a RowErg, SkiErg, BikeErg or a combination of the three. There are free certificates of completion and prizes for purchase (available from our third party vendor). To either start or join a team, visit the Teams page of your logbook. If you're a member of a team, make sure you confirm your participation in the challenge.

I'll update the OP tomorrow when I've got some more time. For now, everyone don't forget to sign up on the team page!

None of us would ever walk again if we managed to row enough to catch the Diamonds.  Lol

I did 5000 today.  Hoping to do it again tomorrow and Sunday.

Another 5K down.

Tried a Dark Horse program.  It's interesting.

I put a whopping 1500 on the board yesterday, will use C2 for warmup today as well.

We aren't really competing against the diamonds, we have 5 signups.

I have been out of town. Thought I'd be out through October but came home early. Might have to go back out but I will see if I can still sign up and get some meters up.

Does anyone do ranked workouts?  I'm wondering how long it takes for the ranked leaderboards to update.  I just didba 2000 meter row and beat a prior time.  I'm curious to see how far I can climb the rankings before the end of the year.

Edit:  I figured it out.  I had to go into my log and rank the workout.  There is a button you have to click before it is ranked.  It's not automatically updated.

I'm slow but I improved.   Being slow is the price yo pay for being a lazy bastard for so long.  I'm trying to fix that now.

Come on, kiddos.  Last 9 days.  Get some meters in.

I'm on pace for 100k and I feel like I've been hit by a truck.    But, I feel good at the same time.  Still rowing slow as hell but I'm getting on the machine and doing it.  That's got to count for something, right?

Damn, looks like I missed this one. Hopefully there is another before the end of the year. I always forget to check in here....next time PM or @ me, I typically put on anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000m/day

Not on the arfcom team, as two friends picked up C2s also.

We’re going for 200K each in the holiday challenge. I’m at 85 as of now. We plan to row a marathon near the end, our first one, so i am really just targeting 160K over the next 2 weeks. (80 more).

I expect to be back on the rower this week to start getting ready for 2024 VTC.

For anyone who isn't on the team, I think you can join here: https://log.concept2.com/team/7747

Join up! Let's do this thing. Post any questions about using the logbook, linking the app to your rower, physical form/technique questions etc. Lots of knowledgable folks here to help.

Virtual Team Challenge
The Virtual Team Challenge (VTC), runs every year from January 1 31. Follow the directions below to participate!

The Details
Each team completes as many meters as they can collectively between 12:00 a.m. January 1 and 11:59 p.m. January 31.
RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg meters only (no on water/on snow meters please). You can combine meters from each machine to reach the challenge goal. Note: BikeErg meters are counted as half when applied to the challenge.
This is a team challenge. You must belong to a team to participate. This is not the same as your club affiliation in your profile. See "Information for Team Members" below.
Please visit the Joining A Team for more information on how to join a team. Important: Team members need to confirm they intend to take part in each challenge. You do this from the Team member page.
Please visit the Starting and Managing a Team page for more information on how to setup and run a team.
Teams must consist of at least two (2) people. Team members will not appear on challenge boards until at least two people are taking part.
Important deadline: Complete the following tasks by January 16 23:59 GMT (18:59 ET) or your team will not be enrolled in the challenge and/or your team members' meters will not count for the challenge:
All team members must be added to your team.
Team members who have their own logbooks must indicate in their logbooks that they are actively participating in the current challenge. (See the Team member page for more information.)
Meters must be entered online. Because of the large number of participants in the challenge, we cannot accept results via phone, fax or email. We suggest that any members who have access to the internet create their own profile so that they can enter their own results.
Meters completed each week should be entered no later than midnight on Friday of that week. This works on the honor system. It makes it fair and fun for everyone if you can watch the progress of the teams that you are competing against.
Concept2 reserves the right to ask for proof of meter totals if they seem suspect and to disqualify any team from the challenge who we feel is not participating honestly.
Deadline for entering meters: February 3 23:59 GMT (18:59 ET).

Who Can Participate
Virtual teams (not based on or around a specific physical location) can be made up of anyone from anywhere who wants to participate friends, family, co-workers, old schoolmates, rowing teammates, and so on. Teams can also be real "clubs" with a physical location. Team captains will be asked to indicate their club division when registering their team for the first time. The choices are:

Virtual
Education
Military
On-Water
Health/Fitness
Corporate
Emergency Services
Medical Facility
Correctional Facility
CrossFit

For all members, make sure to hit "join team challenge" on the bottom right of the teams tab on concept2 website. Not sure how it works inside the app but you have to make sure to sign up. It looks like this after signing up
