Probably try to keep it around 1:20-1:30 per 5mi with a 10min rest between each 5mi, but it's really going to be more of a completion thing. Looking at about 7hrs of movement time. Taking a rest day on Friday, so we'll see how much my feet recover.

5mi into it now. I take 5mi loops back to the house to resupply water and get some food in me. First loop with 50# in about 1:19. Taking a 10min rest, then out for #2 with the wife. She wants to get in 10mi, so I'll have company for 2 loops. Keeping the timer going so I have a full picture of elapsed time.

10mi in. Little slower on the last lap, wife came with me. Getting more water and food in me along with Naproxen and electrolytes.

15mi done. Little faster this lap because the wife peeled off. Don't feel terrible. Going to take 15-20mins this time. Still keeping the 50#. Sun going down, but I should be able to get lap 4 without a headlamp.

RunKeeper (app I use to track mileage) has a 100km (62 mi) 'challenge' each month; last month I was 98% completed so I was determined to make it this time. Going into today I knew I needed just over 6 miles to finish it -

Ended up 64.2 miles for the month, all with 30 lb rucks. I'm in awe of those of you doing 50+ lbs - I have tried 40 lbs a few times but the shin splints returned. I may try to ease up with 35 lbs for a few weeks.

Next weekend is it. Going to take it easy this week and make sure I get enough food and hydration to feel good on Friday and through the weekend. Will do stuff around the farm, but nothing overly strenuous.  Getting gear and everything together.

I have long legs and can "walk" a 15 minute mile pace, but it's awkward. Usually if my goal is speed, it's going to involve some off and on jogging.

Completed the GORUCK MOG Mile HTB over the weekend. Started Friday at 6p with the 24hr Heavy, then a 4hr break, then the 12hr Tough, then another 4hr break, then a 4.5hr Basic. Endex for the Basic was around 6:30 Sunday night. Between 55-60miles covered in and around Pittsburgh. Learned about the Battle of Mogadishu and the soldiers involved. Did countless workouts in remembrance. Learned a little about CQB room entry and combat medic care for wounded.

I had my ruck with all the required items, including a 30# ruck plate for the entire weekend. Cadre brought sandbags and water bladders ranging from 40# to a 200# worm-style sandbag. Not everything was used the whole time, but you were under something most of the time.

All in all a good, challenging weekend with great people.

Hey dudes. Any of you guys ever use a Crossfire pack?

https://www.crossfirepacks.com/product-category/packs/

Considering a DG3 or DG slick. Current pack is an Osprey 39 liter, can't remember what model.

Been rucking with 50#, I feel like my current pack wasn't made for that much weight, this often anyway.

Been rucking with a plate carrier with 20 pounds for quite awhile now. Just stepped up and bought a 20L Rucker 4.0 and a 30 pound plate to go with it.

Goal is by spring time to be rucking with 45 or 50.

55lbs - 4mi - 62min

I’m thinking about moving to a plate carrier to balance the weight better.

Goal is to get back up to 45lbs keeping at 4mph or better.

45lbs, 12 miles in <3 hours is the standard I'm aiming for.

That's pretty fast. I'd have to half-ass run to hold a 13 minute mile.

Hang out with the wrong right people and 4mph starts seeming kinda slow.

I'm tall with long legs, so it's easier for me, but there is some jogging involved to keep that pace. Fastest I can "walk" puts me at around 14 minutes per mile, but that beats me up pretty good by mile 5 or 6. Working on that.

I'm tall with long legs as well - in dry weather I average a hair over 15 mins/mile, but I rarely do over 5-6 miles at a time. I'd like to work on longer distances but that burns a whole afternoon when I could be doing something else. If I had a group it'd be different, more motivation.. but going solo I'm happy enough doing 4-5 miles every other day with 35ish lbs. I'd like to do a GoRuck event next year but I don't think they do any this side of NY anymore. Not since this unfortunate accident...

Agree that longer rucks are a time suck, but I found out the hard way there's a very large difference between a 6-8 mile ruck and a 10-12 mile ruck. I hit the wall around mile 11 at Warfighter in 2020.

If you can't finish 8 or 9 and feel like you could do it again after a short break, 12 is really gonna suck. I stick with <8 for the most part but try to sneak in a couple double digit hikes leading up to that event just to see where I'm at.

Decided to go for a little more distance today as it was upper 40s and sunny (when I started), though I did drop from 30 lbs to 20.. surprising how much of a difference 10 lbs makes.

I recently bought an Apple Watch SE and use it to track heart rate and activities - I find it interesting to compare to the RunKeeper app I've been using for years -

On the left is the RunKeeper app, on the right is the activity recorded on my watch -

I would think the phone would be more accurate for distance but who knows.. As for the ruck - I thought about pushing it to 10 miles but the sun was starting to go down and I was starting to get cold; I usually keep an "emergency layer" in my pack but took it out when I adjusted the weight..

Nice hike.

I used to hike with a guy using an apple watch. He always read slightly more distance than the other devices present.

53lb ruck.

Right knee is still sore, overall the back and legs are stiff, but that’s my first 12 miler since probably 1996

Taking a couple weeks off before getting back at it.
