It would do great damage to the charger's rear (or the bile sacs on a titan, either of which are vulnerable to explosive damage), or to a leg after you strip the armor off, but shooting the highly armored head isn't what the Eruptor is for. It has enough damage and AoE that it can often take out multiple chaff units, little bugs or bots, with one shot. It dumpsters the scout walkers, you can take an easier shot at the legs of a devastator instead of the head for a 1-shot, closes bug holes and destroys fabricators, destroys all the medium bugs (warriors, hive guard, stalkers, etc). The list of things it's not good at killing is very small: chargers, bile titans, hulks (it lacks the AP to hurt the eye weak spot meaningfully, still good against the heat sinks), factory walkers. Works against tanks and turrets if you work your way around to the heat sink. |

Started playing last night.
Went from 'what the fuck is going on?' to basically just loading mission after mission. I am actually surprised at the amount of times where A. team mates die (I died like 2x in I don't remember how many mission and they were both FF) and B. people not reinforcing and just doing whatever for minutes at a time. So basically I became the supply/reinforcement/stratagem guy. I'm only level 7 or 8 and already like the game, but it has me wondering what the long term replayability of it is? Like, what's the point of getting to level 60, 70, 80+? I feel like I'm missing some part of the game play cycle or something. Right now, you basically get samples and experience/money from missions. You use those to unlock stratagems and ship modules that help them be strong. All gear is gotten from the award 'system' and is the same for everyone yet from what I can tell, most of everything is mainly cosmetic and while some weapons may be a bit nicer, its really kind of moot. What is the end game/long term goal here? |

You have to put together a coherent package to survive the harder difficulties and unlock the best perks. Some of the armor is more cosmetic, but there are speed bonuses for light armor and stim/grenade bonuses as well. Helmets and capes have no perks yet. |

Most of what makes the game so enjoyable doesn't really come out until 6+ due to difficulty weeding some people out, number of missions per operation, types of missions, strategy in stratagem selection becoming important, etc. |

View Quote I was/am a gear queer in RPGs so I yearn for this as well. At least mix perks between pieces so people could build unique perk sets. Like 50% explosion damage and 30% throwing range. Or 30% detection and +2 grenades. Or whatever, adding more perks would make it better since there's so few currently. That would be a lot of fun for me personally. |

As the newness and fun wears off, and the repetitiveness of the game starts to show, ive noticed im starting to get more frustrated with the shit they arent fixing, I played one planet this morning that was so fucking dark it was almost impossible to see the bugs. I guess in a time of intergalactic travel, night vision built into the helmets isnt a thing. The bile spewers acid clipping through rocks, uphills and over dunes and 1 hit killing is annoying too. Also when switching back to my sickle main, it shows reloaded but wont fire until i re-reload it.

View Quote Some planets have dust storms/fire storms that hinder sight to a few yards Pain in ass but I'm the galaxy I'd imagine some worlds are like that The clipping is an issue with every game, this is smaller studio so not as well polished code The gun reloading, it seems to be universal. If you reload and use stem/grenade or something else BEFORE the reloading process is complete you have to do it again. Intentional or bug, don't know Seems intentional as if you're reloading your AR and have to engage with pistol in middle of reload, not gonna magically seat mag and charge weapon Just observations The game is a bit repetitive but go to bots and play there for a few days, seems like whole new game vs the bugs |

When I was 18-21 and started playing Quake 2, it was essentially nothing but a hand eye coordination, reflex, reaction time competition. I was never the best but pretty damn good. Years went on and various games and I kept sliding down the leaderboards on those games until I just gave up on them. HD2 being player vs environment as well as having a (sometimes incredibly maddening) point of aim/point of impact shift to simulate weapon ergonomics, shooting position challenges, being winded, etc; basically flattens the playing field in that regard with only a couple exceptions (like being able to no scope hulks with a shot to the eye with the Barrett) but gives you plenty of tools to combat those enemies that don't require that level of reflex/coordination. |

Like, if you and your buddy got 200 kills each, it would calculate your kills as 200+200, and their kills as 200+200, then submit both calculations separately to the Major Order progress. So your combined 400 kills ends up being 800 kills For example, today's peak players is at 180,000 players. Assuming every single one of those players got 200 kills in a mission, that would be 36,000,000 kills. Therefore it would take every single person playing 55 missions in order to hit 2,000,000,000 kills. No where near 180K people played 55 missions each just today, lol. |
