Both flexible brake lines running from the hull to the axle are plugged up. Both worked fine six months ago.

That doesn't make working brake lines go bad. Have a line on someone to make em, passed it to M35. My money is you're using non-Soviet brake fluid.

I like watching the progress of this. And those wheel cylinders look pretty bad. Nothing a good cleaning and honing won't fix.
And for all of us that own military vehicles, we all know there is nothing really cheap about owning or working on them. My 1962 Willys M170 Ambulance has been sitting for a few years since the M170 specific parts are very hard to find. The seats and fuel tank being two of the hardest to find. |

The hardest part so far to find has not been anything special or hard.
It’s been a hydraulic hose. I’ve gone to 4 different places to get hoses made all 4 weren’t able to make it. |

Spent weds and Thursday painting the shop
   Took me roughly 15 hours to clean and paint the bottom 3 rails. |

You should be able to use MIL-PRF-5606H.

The commercial spec is AMG-10. https://simex-chem.ru/en/products/aviation-oils/amg-10.html MIL-PRF-5606H is a mineral based hydraulic fluid that has excellent low temperature qualities. Aeroshell Fluid 41 meets the specifications of a MIL-PRF-5606H. Aeroshell Fluid 41 also meets the specifications of AMG-10. Aeroshell Fluid 41 is also classified as NATO H-515 as is AMG-10 and MIL-PRF-5606H. Remember, a PRF standard is not a MILSPEC. A PRF is a performance based qualification. It's the manufacturers responsibility to meet the MILSPEC (or SAE) requirements of a 5606 based hydraulic fluid. All the manufacturer has to say is that it meets the performance standards, they don't have to prove it. AeroShell Fluid 41 should be used in systems with synthetic rubber components and must not be used in systems incorporating natural rubber. Chlorinated solvents should not be used for cleaning hydraulic components which use AeroShell Fluid 41. Bad news is they don’t work. Next chance I We get to hit up the brdm will be June. We are getting a new Greek mowag Roland in June/July and a Hmmwv probably in 2023. |
