Paint arrived, Sunday I have some work to do but I'll be painting afterwards.

Wife's birthday is on Monday so we have a massage, movie, and hopefully a trip to Texas De Brazil. I have training again on Tuesday, mandatory stuff so it look like my prime painting time will be Sunday evening.

I can finish off a 62$ can of hammerite in about 2 hours. I need to do more and better prep this time.

Fuel tank was re-installed today. Unfortunately the teflon tape used to seal the fuel filter leaked and it wasn't safe to start it up. I need to clean up the fuel filler neck since it's rusted to all get out.

I'm going to go and paint here in a bit now that it's clear.

Cleaned up the gas fill port, tried to use some paint stripper to take the blue paint off the headlight guard, gas can cover, and some other parts. Didn't work out so well.

I'm going to have to build the sandblasting cabinet and get a large enough compressor OR have someone blast it for me.

It's simply easier to have someone do it.

Anyone have an idea on gasoline resistant paint/primer?

With the amount of maintenance you do, you need your own sandblasting cabinet so I can come over and borrow it.

Not maintenance, rebuilding. This is fixing 20 years of sitting in a Greek orchard getting rained on and ignored and not driven

The engine started and ran today.

I technically made it by my deadline. The Roland is running. But not driving. We are almost there.

A Chrysler small block with no muffler is loud!

Getting the wheels cleaned and sandblaster and I will paint them Friday.

Need to get 32 studs for the front and rear along with a bunch of lug nuts.

I always wondered where Greeks come from - now I know.  An orchard.  Which explains this:

I always told folks to tie em up 1st so they didn't struggle as you seasoned em.

I have a couple jars of olives stuffed with jalapeños and some with cheese in vinegar. They’re amazing.

Greece is absolutely beautiful.

So will this vehicle when it’s done.

More progress.

Picked up the oil seals for the wheels but they’re the wrong size. Needs new studs for all 4 sides. Need c clips for the brakes. Need new brake hoses so hopefully the hydraulic shop can make this happen.

The vehicle fired up again tonight but it had some back firing issues. The fuel system is plumbed in and not leaking.

A lot of parts were dropped off at the sand blasters tonight in the back of my clapped out Mazda truck. Probably 400 pounds worth.

3 truck rims,  the front bumper light covers fuel tank fill port cover, wiring cover. Filled the bed of my truck.

Should be done in a couple days.

I technically met my goal for the vehicle running in July.

Compare this

To what it was before

Painted most of the rims today, the gas cover, and headlight guards.

Will post pictures later.

Shop is a mess, as always. Once I get the vehicles back together I can start putting things away.

Not yet, going to do that as the last thing before I hit the road for testing. No need to spend 1000$ until I have to.

Still need to do the axle seals, drums (Wheel studs), paint the inside, periscopes, and some other bits. It is running and starts but needs tuning. Oh, and probably some front end parts replaced.

The armor may not be as good, and it could use a fire suppression system, but I have to say, it looks a lot more survivable & easier to maintain than the BRDM.  Lots of ways to get out if things get jacked.

It's stupid easy, although I might add a fire extinguisher, AFSS tends to go off at bad times plus the ash trays were full of greek cigarettes

Not on days when it’s in the hundreds. Too hot.

Plenty of nice days to do it.

I also can drive it under nods

Front bumper painted along with some wiring covers and a battery holder.

You can tell the battery holder was severely rusted as the rust actually ate through 1/8th steel bar

The smaller pieces look far better than the rest of the vehicle.

I should have waited until I had a compressor to do the outside.

Sandblast properly and then paint with a sprayer.

Oh well.
