Bo, there’s been some beautiful prayers shared in here. I pray that collectively they lift you up, give you peace and help you along your journey. May God Bless you and your family.

Sorry to hear it, OP.  I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers going forward.

My greatest fear is getting cancer.  I had a coworker pass away after battling esophagus cancer.  I get really bad acid reflux and am afraid I'm going to get cancer at some point.

Prayers for you & your family coming your way, buddy. I hope you're able to make a decision on what route you want to take with clarity, and give life the best you've got until the ride stops. Chronic pain will take it out of you for sure, not to mention the other physiological issues you mentioned...

My dad was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome, which is a bone marrow/blood cell cancer. He had been having his doctor treat it with transfusions and other medications. The treatments were getting less and less effective and he was feeling worse and worse. He was getting tired of the treatments.

The doc told him that if they stopped the treatment he had about 2 weeks left. My mom and sister and I were all there with him. He was very upset, very introspective and quiet.

The following morning he was calm and had come to terms with his mortality. He was a Christian, and had prayed a lot of the night. He was at peace with his decision to stop the treatments, and let God and nature take their course. He was an amazing man. One afternoon he went into a coma and that was it. Everything happened just like the doc said.

Whatever decision you make, I hope you find peace and comfort. You will be in my thoughts and I'll say a prayer for you.

My friends wife is alive because of it.  She had stage 4 cancer that had traveled to her skin and got into her bone marrow.  She was given 3-4 months to live she's been cancer free of 6 years.  Chemo is no guarantee either way but IMO if you have a reason to fight you fight.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I may give it another nights sleep but at this time I’ve all but made up my mind to fight. The more I think about it the more resolved I become. I’m not sure giving up has ever really been an option for me.

Someone asked how bad was my reflux, I didn’t think it was that bad. I would take an antacid from time to time but I didn’t think even those times were very bad. I think genetics play a big role in it as well.

I have pretty much everything I need since I’ve been through this before. I already sleep in a hospital bed and yesterday my son set my bedroom up. My bills are pretty much taken care of so I don’t really need anything money wise. I am looking into palliative care as I may be using it down the line. I’m going to keep focusing on my kids and spending as much time with them as I can.

Again, thanks to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I believe they help and I am very thankful for them.

Pretty hard for any of us to say anything truly helpful.  I'd try the chemo again; anything to squeeze out as many days as you can.  You never know what may happen during those few more months.
