For those asking, I haven’t had any of the covid shots and I’m glad I decided not to get them.
My Oncologist put me on a list for a drug trial. I haven’t been chosen yet, but I’m on the list it’s for T cells. My sister is researching some other clinics and options. I will probably be getting a second opinion within the next week or two. I really do appreciate you guys and this site. After 15 + years it still amazes me how this community can come together. |

Re: your sister's research. I know it doesn't compare to your situation however I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012 and (at the recommendation of neurologist and also orthopedic surgeon friends), changed my original urologist and hospital to go to Cleveland Clinic to resolve it. Had it done late September of that same year. Those great folks got all of my cancer and I think the world of this outstanding institution. I would highly recommend you/your sister look into what they might offer. My initial meeting, my pre-op and the surgery and post surgical care were incredible in my estimation. Maybe Cleveland Clinic offers the equivalent relative to esophageal cancer. |

Bo I just read this thread. I am sorry for the fight you have ahead if you, and the decisions you have to make. I was your son's age when my father went through a similar fight. I will and am praying for you and your family for comfort, and for wisdom for you and the doctors. Be blessed and know God is all capable.

Bo,
I only read until page two where I saw you are leaning towards fighting. Please do. I watched my husband lose his dad around your sons age, it was so hard. He just didn’t have it in him to keep fighting. I hope and pray you do. Your kids need as long as you have and everything you can give to be here with them. Even if they are grown. Miracles happen everyday, you could be one. Find a good cancer specialist hospital, you may qualify for trials. Don’t give up!! I will keep praying for you. Damn there is a lot of dust in here….. You got this Bo!! |

Update 09/25 In the ER waiting for a bed to open up on the oncology ward. I can’t stop vomiting. I haven’t started treatment so that’s not what is causing it. I’m down to about 110 lbs. of course they are giving me fluids through the iv and maybe nutrients at a later date. I have a couple teams of doctors working on solving the problem. There has been talk of a feeding tube directly in my lower intestines so I can be vomiting and still get nutrients. They think my intestines are shutting down. If that’s the case, it may be too late for treatment. Not sure what’s going to happen but the next couple of days I will try to update this thread. |

One more person out here in the universe praying for you Bo.
I don’t have any advice or insight. I just have my prayers and compassion, but I will pray daily for you. Fighting is admirable, but so is showing your kids that you’re right with God and. It afraid to go home because you believe. |

My prayer tonight will be specifically for you, Bo.
My father opted to cease treatment because the onco said the extra months were a tradeoff with quality of life, but that was back when chemo was very harsh. I respected his decision, but in retrospect I wish we'd of had more time. Keep the best, most upbeat mindset you can. I'm a firm believer it makes a difference. Update: 09/28
I was admitted to the hospital. After a couple of days and many tests, the doctors believe the cancer is causing the vomiting. Looking at the PET scan, the cancer is spread in a way similar to birdshot would be if I would have been shot in the stomach. They cannot remove it because there are so many small tumors spread out. I will be taking chemo to hopefully shrink the tumors and keep the cancer at bay. One of the biggest obstacles to overcome in order to get chemo is to get some nutrients in me. They have been feeding me through my IV and today they put a feeding tube in. The tube was placed in a way that I will not vomit up the food that goes down it. In fact, they crushed a pill and mixed it with water then gave it to me via my new tube. I feel so much better tonight after getting some nutrition. I had hit 110lbs on Monday morning, but my doctors were able to stop the decline and it seems I have gained a pound. God is good and he is still in charge and on the throne. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. It means so much to me. Bo |
