Oh no.

So sad to get this kind of update. I knew he had been battling some serious health issues in the last few threads of his I had checked, but he was so dismissive of his own needs and so focused on the poor dogs who needed him so badly.

So many pups have him to thank for their full bellies and comfy beds with their loving families tonight. RIP Joker1, you made a very real difference for so many deserving dogs and lucky families. If we could all do even a slight fraction as much as Joker1 did, the world would be a better place.

Damn it.

He was a good man, and I'm just glad I got to know him before we lost him.  I have two of his dogs sleeping under my desk right now.

I'm going to miss him, and his mission to save all of the dogs.  Damn it.

It's incredibly sad and disgusting that hospitals are still denying visitation due to COVID. I hope Mark had a caring nurse in the end and a thousand dogs wagging their tails when he entered the gates.

Ron DeSantis did a great thing when he got the right to visitation (regardless of COVID) passed.

Sad to hear he has passed away.  I was thinking from some of the updates he may be slowly improving.  He early made a very positive impact on many dogs and members of this site.

RIP.

It always amazed me in how hard he tried and succeeded in getting a dog into a good home. Didnt matter where the dog was or where it was going.

He will surely be missed.

RIP Mark. I was privileged to have been a part of a couple of delivery relays which were wonderful things to be a part of. He found a dog for my Mom and we got him to her in Austin. Sadly he turned out to be too much dog for her to handle. But with Marks blessings we were able to place him with a neighbor who has been a terrific home for Blaze, and she gets to see him ocassionaly. Spoke with Mark several times over the years and was impressed by the timbre of the man as I sensed it from our conversations. I am saddened by this news, yet ok knowing his suffering is no more. He is home with all his pupper friends and at peace.

My condolences to his friends and family.

All who knew him are better for having had that opportunity. And as has oft been said. As long as there are those of who still speak his name, he'll never quite be gone from us.

God bless you, and keep you Mark Hagenauer, in eternal peace.

Let's keep Semper Fi alive in his memory. I am volunteering to be the contact for any and all relays we can put together going into the future.

Don’t pray for the dead. Their case is closed and judgement is already secured.

Pray for those left behind and the work undone by the deceased.

In the case of Joker1, please pray for the animals he worked with.

They are without a shepherd tonight. Pray for his friends and family as well.

I’m certain many hearts have a hole that cannot be filled easily.
