For a book that I am writing, I am interested in meeting/interviewing people who cache weapons. To get a sense of who I am and where I come from, look at www.danbaum.com, and also see the August issue of Harper's magazine, where I wrote a piece about concealed carry. If you're interested in talking to me, please email [email protected]. Thank you.

Yes, if you've buried them with the idea that they might either be confiscated down the road, or needed in a SHTF emergency.

Quoted: Yes, if you've buried them with the idea that they might either be confiscated down the road, or needed in a SHTF emergency. I've always been of the mind that if its time to bury them, its time to use them. But if you bury them anyway, you certainly don't talk about it. |

Maybe you should write the tale about the guy that buried his guns in a safe undeveloped place only to come back to find a ginormous shopping center on top. (Substitute dirt or gravel pile, house, highway, etc. as it suits you.) Do you know how to find where the guns are buried in Canadian gardens? Look for the spot where old engine oil is dumped. |

Do the cached weapons have to have firing pins that have been filed down? If so I guess I'm out.
As long as you don't need coords I'm up for chatting about the many guns that I've burried. I find it best to put a bunch of used car parts over the cache...rotors, engine blocks, etc...that way when they come to look for them, they dig down and find rusty car parts and give up. |

I was actually using my boat to transport all of my weapons to the cache location when tragedy struck. Now all I have is a broken .22 bolt action. To the OP for asking people about hiding their guns......... |

I would suggest that everyone read the other gun articles written by Mr. Baum before deciding whether or not to speak with him.

OP, I think the response that you are most likely to get will be
"#1 - The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club. #2 - The second rule of Fight Club is, you DO NOT talk about Fight Club." Good luck to your book writing endeavor, Look at the question you are asking and who you are asking it of... ETA: after reading your blog posts, go excrete your fail elsewhere |

What do you mean by caching? To folks who own more than 20 firearms, caching means burrying them for WWIII. To folks who down own any, caching means owning more than one.

Just took a quick jaunt through this guy's "material" as linked above.
My opinion could be construed as a CoC violation. I wouldn't tell him my favorite flavor of ice cream. |

Ah, I should have clarified:
1. By caching I mean burying, against the contingency of either confiscation or social breakdown. 2. I can mask the person's identity and location. 3. I really don't need any paranoid dickheads accusing me of being an ATF agent. You don't want to deal with me, fine. But hold off on the insults. Let's be gentlemen. |

He isn't an ATF agent.
He is a self titled "Liberal Democrat" who states that Sarah Brady has the right to "regulate...the community of gun owners" |

Nice try.
But seriously, I suspect your real reasons for being here are less than noble. |

The weapons at this Denver show seem to have been designed by Klingons. Many are short, black, high-tech semi-automatics—ARs in the jargon—the civilian version of the rifles American soldiers carry in Iraq and Afghanistan. They fire a bullet unsuitable for most hunting, and are crusted with combat-ready lasers, flashlights, night-vision scopes, and red-dot sights. They start at around a thousand dollars. The tables that don’t cater to the AR crowd hold other modern man-killers: rough-finished Yugoslav AK-47’s for three hundred dollars apiece; Barrett .50-caliber rifles capable of penetrating an armored limousine; brand-new stainless-steel semi-automatic pistols with fifteen-shot clips selling for upwards of eight hundred dollars; tinny chrome-plated pocket pistols for less than a hundred bucks. There’s also plenty of body armor, web gear, combat fatigues, bayonets, silencers, stacks of thirty- and fifty-round magazines. It feels less like a “show” than an arms bazaar in Peshawar.
How are you going to portray the people who cached weapons? and did Garand make a pistol? |

From his site:
It’s a mystery to me why the gun-control community has allowed their opponents to walk off with the Second Amendment. If the amendment guarantees an individual right to own a gun, it also confers a right to regulate gun ownership. It’s right the text: “...a well-regulated militia....” Even accepting the gun enthusiasts’ definition of the militia as the broad community of armed citizens, it seems clear that the Second Amendment not only allows but requires regulation. Put another way, Sarah Brady has Second Amendment rights too: the right to have the militia –– the community of armed citizens –– well regulated. Why is she –– and the rest of the country that wants tighter restrictions on guns –– not making a Second Amendment case? and As for a non-paranoid, non-right-wing gun culture, yes! I’m on a six-week road trip this summer around the Midwest interviewing people about their gun lives for a book I’m writing, and finding that most gun people I meet are neither. It’s the paranoid and the politically motivated who hog the spotlight and the airwaves, but it seems there is a — dare I say it? — silent majority. Free clue: you'll be slotted into the "paranoid, right-wing, politically motivated" category when he writes this up. |
