so I went to bed last night after having  chicken fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp, and won ton soup delivered for dinner. Well I forgot to put the leftovers in the fridge.

So is it still safe to keep these and heat them up for lunch today or is there a risk of salmonella etc.?

I know this is a stupid question, but do I dare say, I trust the wisdom of Arfcom.?

UPDATE
on hour 2 of ingesting said food above. All is well.

IF a change of update is needed after this then it will be posted. otherwise I survived.

I saw a fella eat chineese food that had been left out for 2 days in a hotel room. He was drunk at the time and was hungry, so he ate it...I was quite disgusted by that.

You can either reheat all of it in the oven until the temperature hits 140*F + or freeze it all before eating it again.

And I think I'm gonna order some chinese food today.

I would venture a 'no'. With Chinese food anyway.

Think of how many food poisoning stories start with, "Well, there I was, eating some leftover Chinese.........."

Ignore the preceeding advice.   You can eat it all, and you'll lose wieght.  Enjoy, my friend, yes, enjoy.

Fried rice is notoriously dangerous when left out.  Ask any doctor.

Bacillus cereus: Causes mild illness with rapid onset of vomiting, with or without diarrhea and abdominal cramping. It is associated with rice (mainly fried rice) and other starchy foods such as pasta or potatoes. It has been speculated that this bacteria may also be used as a potential terrorist weapon.

I believe the process of cooked food going bad starts after an hour of it being left out in the open.

DO NOT EAT.

I am nobody to ask something like this because I have the constitution of a goat.

I can eat almost ANYTHING with no ill effects.

I have had more than one perrson tell me that I could live in a concentration camp and not lose an ounce.

Nine guys around me down with Samonella and Ptomaine and Piccolo MAY just burp twice, fart once and keep on truckin'.

I do not know if it is a blessing or a curse.

so true you had to say it twice

just think of all the places in the Asia that do not have refrigeration. I would assume that the salt/MSG has retarded the growth of anything too bad. Think of it as training for SHTF

Everytime I've done that, I have to get up and let it in, otherwise it scratches at the door all night.

Heating it up to at least 175 should kill any bacteria that may have started.

I would eat it ( after re-heating properly to sterilize )

Yeah, I'm about the same way.

If you spend enough time on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean, you learn a lot of things about

food, hygiene, and all kinds of other stuff......

And this country seems to have a total phobia about food becoming poisonous instantly.

YMMV

Probably enough salt and MSGin it to inhibit any bacterial growth for a decent period of time. Also depend on the temp where the food was. Big difference between 60 and 90F in food spoilage, bacteria growth and the resulting toxin/s.

Sounds like a nice meal to take to work. Make it VERY presentable and delicious looking and leave it in the fridge for the resident food snitcher to eat. Sit back and enjoy the possible antics.
