What is so liberal about California?  The state alone is in the top ten world's economy.  If it wasn't for the big city thinkers from California the US as a whole wouldn't be a military or economic superpower it is today.  San Francisco is very nice and would be an awesome place to live.  The standards that are in place is what keeps that city nice.

Whatever you say sir. How is your race for Mayor of Chicago going?

Well, the courts rendered a correct decision that will allow Mr. Emanuel the opportunity to proudly serve the great city of Chicago.

He has big shoes to fill in Mayor Daley.  Mr. Emanuel has the leadership and persona to get things done, however.  His influence will cover the state and make Illinois an opportunistic place to live again.

Of course I didn't actually live there, but it was the impression I had. I sure don't have that impression now.

They're still here. THey're just quietly sucking their meth pipes and now massively outnumbered by mexican illegals.  The central valley is now an over-run third world shithole.  Google up Victor Davis Hanson's 'Two Californias' essay of a few weeks ago. The man nails it.

Here's a precinct map of CA, from teh 2003 Recall of Gray Davis. You can see how the liberals were concentrated on the coasts -

And just a few years later you can see how much the mexican socialists have distorted things -

No, they are not really conservative, at least not the larger majority of them.  Their Christianity tends to be an odd brand that mixes the aboriginal religion and superstitutions in with genuine Christianity.  I forget if it was the Freeman or National Review that had a good article on that aspect of the culture.  These observations are from personal experience, as I worked quite often in predomnantly hispanic neighborhoods and come from a hispanic family (3 of 4 grandparents came here from Mexico, all leftists btw).  There is a reason why hispanic countries in the Americas tend to be so leftist, especially the more aboriginal ones, ethnically speaking.

Daley and his father before him were fucking crooks.   Shitcago produced: no CCW, high crime, Daley and his scumbag relatives and friends, and Obama.  Now they want to elect that scumbag Emanuel!

CA is broke, so I wouldn't exactly call it a booming economy.  If CA got rid of all the social programs, liberals, illegals, and granted CCW permits to the average joe, it would be a nice place to live.  Until then , you can have it.

Actually the real question is when did the east coast become so liberal because if you think about when this country was being developed who moved west. All the wacko's that didn't fit in. They just kept moving west until they had nowhere else to go. I give you California.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the refuse from the Vietnam generation (hippies, et al) plus the large number of immigrants from south of the border. When you back the to together in LA and Frisco, and neither believe in using condoms, they will naturally multiply into out of control numbers.
Only slightly sarcastic about that last bit.

If you compare the bottom map to 2000 or 2004, you'll see that about half again more counties voted Dem last time compared to before. It's mind-boggling how someone with as little to offer as Obama could appeal to what apparently used to be sane people. I know for Riverside and SB counties it was the first time they'd voted Dem since 1964...

Calif became liberal when all the gawd damn east coast liberals got tired of their cold winters, and the rest of the country started listening to the gawd damn hippies singing about "California dreaming" and they all decided to move west to calif then fucked the place up by electing their own new yawk politcians..... fineswine, pelosi, boxer and many more.

AND THEN THERE ARE THE FUCKING ...U.D.A.'S ....Un-Documented Aliens ... NOT of the USA!!
who expect a bunch of FREE hand outs, and then suck the state dry like a $2 hooker sucking bill gates cock.

and the gawd damn east coast and new yawk liberals are all  too happy to give these leechs anything they want as long as they are here to wash cars and cut grass.

I mean come on "CHIP's" a cool apartment, hot chicks at the pool, a lifted Chevy pick-up and dirt bikes on your day off.

"Three's Company"

My young dreams included living in that utopia...as I got older I realized it isn't what I hoped it be.

So give me a little California history...was it ever a utopia?...Texas on the west coast?

When did it start going downhill?

I'm like you in that I grew up watching a lot of TV shows (CHIPS, Emergency, etc..) and even movies (Karate Kid comes to mind) set in California and even now that state is a mystical utopia for me.  I've never been there and I'm sure my first visit will dispel that notion but Cali is still a gleaming light in my eyes.

My great-great grandfather was naturalized in San Francisco in the 1860's but moved to Illinois afterwards.  During the Vietnam war my dad was stationed in San Francisco and I was actually conceived there (during the so-called "Summer of Love") but my parents moved back to Punksville, Oklahoma before I was born.

All due respect, but I spent my first 44 years there, and you are cataclysmically ill-informed.

Ditto the cataclysm. Are the "standards" what kept the tranny hookers on my stoop 9 days out of 10. Or maybe it was the "standards" that required 5 people to share a 2 bedroom, 450 square foot apartment, with tranny hookers on stoop, for $425.00 EACH per month. IN 1993 I'm a native, had a recent opportunity to go back, and double my current salary. I would be losing money and lowering my standard of  living.

Fuck that piece of shit fucking cock slobbering gutter slut Emanuel and his minions, this state would be a lot better off if they built a wall around crook county and let them drown in their own filth. Fucking piece of shit Emanuel im sick and fucking tired of seeing that worthless shitbag on my tv.

Actually the real question is when did the east coast become so liberal because if you think about when this country was being developed who moved west. All the wacko's that didn't fit in. They just kept moving west until they had nowhere else to go. I give you California.

I know you're joking, but that would be funnier it if made sense. How then would you explain New England compared to the Rocky Mountain states?

hey now I mentioned New England going full retard.

Where?

Wonder what would happen to Cali if you took out the federal ports, the nationwide cinema industry, nationwide music industry, and the military. The problem with calling cali "en economy unto itself" is that it isn't unto itself. Its like NY/NYC. Yeah, they get big bucks from Wall Street and trading firms, but not much else comes from NY. Same with Cali., most of their economy is national economy funneled into Cali because thats where those particular business' reside.

These two industries support the huge liberal agenda. That is a MAJOR reason that Cali is so far left.

San Francisco is nice in relative terms...Relative to places like Detroit, Baltimore or Camden New Jersey it is very nice. Compared to Chicago or New York it isn't that nice.

California's budget is a mess and that mess was caused by liberals. Should the opportunity arise, California will have its hand out to the rest of America asking for help fixing its massive financial catastrophe. I just spent a month in Ventura County, California has zero excuses for the problems that it faces. It has a diverse economic base like no other and plenty of tax revenue (if properly managed) to weather virtually anything that comes along.  When the checks stop and the riots start, Californians need only look in the mirror to see why it happened. How many of those other economies are as flat f-ing broke as California is. California transformed itself from a position of leadership to an embarrasment and a liability to the United States through sheer irresponsibility and leftist nonsense.

I left Ca 2 years ago, most of the farmland i hunted was owned or leased by big Ag Corporations, the population of rural Ca is far outnumbered by the libs in citys.

Yeah, that's what I figured.  And, that's why California is so liberal.

Kinda sad.

I went to HS in Bakersfield in the mid 70s...I was a transplant from Texas due to the oil industry. While Kern county seemed pretty conservative, I saw my fair share of hippie types and bean bag chairs. I will say at that time the gun laws seemed pretty open and I had some of the finest hunting and fishing trips of my life there. But, with that being said, I was on a plane back to Texas the day after my graduation..

All due respect, but I spent my first 44 years there, and you are cataclysmically ill-informed.

I have to agree here, so WTF?

If by awesome you mean 8 billion behind on payments, then they are awesome.

Biness and folks leaving by the busload, why yes, that is awesome.

during the great bean famine in texas during the 1970's.  the liberals couldn't adjust to eating chili without beans and moved to california.  the conservatives stayed in texas and adapted to eating chili without beans. after the bean famine ended they decided that the cost of going back to beans in chili would be too great if another famine occurred, so to this day they don't put beans in their chili and hide their love of of it through their hatred.

So, correct me if I am wrong, the people of Texas have decided to settle for meat sauce do to the cost of beans?

If that is correct, we in Michigan could grow the beans you need for your meat sauce so it could be, again proper chili.
