If you go down the plantar fasciatis road, find inserts with a graphite arch. People mistakenly think you need more cushion. You dont, You need more support. More cushion will only allow that bunch of tendons to pull off that ball-shaped bone inside your heal. Which is what hurts and makes your foot feel like it is on fire.

I had bad plantar fasciitis in one heel on and off for over a year. I started using Superfeet Green insoles at the recommendation of the shoe guy at REI and that put paid to my heel pain. This was after months of icing, stretching and Motrin with no results. I gave all that up and went to Superfeet Greens and that solved my problems. YMMV.

I was having pain and tried many soft shoe inserts with no luck.
Went to the foot dr and he gave me (charged me out the ass) a set of rock hard inserts.....problem solved
google power step insoles . they worked for me.
soft inserts didnt work.  makes no sense but the hard ones fixed my pain
also dont wear the same pair of shoes every day - rotate between a few pairs

You need to be fitted.

Determine your needs for drop and support.

You might be natural, or a pronator, you might prefer 8mm or 14mm drop, more cushioning or less... and so on.

Shoes are a complicated fuckin' thing man.

I just found all this shit out recently.

It comes down, ultimately, to what feels good. But feeling good for ten mins in a store is different from 10+ hours.

That's where the mechanics come into play. If your shoe is all cocked wrong you'll snap all your shit up.

If you need support and don't have it, then 10+ hours daily will become hell in short order.

Go to a running specialty store, they typically have walking shoes also.

They have shoes designed for walking on pavement.

I believe SOLE brand is better. Check them out.

Just get a pair in your hands and you'll see what I mean. Same price.

And now OP can get the same recommendation!

Try em and see if they fit your feet. The Sole brand might work as well. Superfeet don't work for me bit they seem to do the trick for most people.

Basic point is that cushion is over rated. Support is where it's at.

I had to buy supports for my heel.
I was on my feet 10 hours a day after being in the office.
I thought I was going to be crippled..
