I have always liked to dabble with model aircraft, especially military aircraft. So I'm a frequent visitor on the ARC forums. Some people on there simply do amazing work that will blow your mind. Here is one such example from member "B.A.R". Again, this is B.A.R.'s creation using an F-22 kit with certain components from an F-14 kit as well.

Ever wanted to know what would have replaced the F-14 Tomcat had the NATF project not been scrapped? Well, the proposed naval variant of the F-22 would have been very similar to this...

Reminiscent of the opening scene of Top Gun huh?

If only I could match that guy's skills. That is some awesome work. Seeing the finished product all done up in Jolly Rogers livery also makes me wish we could have had the real deal sitting on our carriers right now. But I guess this is as close as we'll ever get to that.

VG wings are still considered to be cool?

Nice model but current F-22 problems, stealth coating problems + salt water =

I dig it.

When the wings are in full forward it looks like a swimming penguin though.

As a model yes, in the real world they aren't.  Just a neat toy made by someone with some skills.

Very cool looking work.  I know I could never do anything like that.  I can't imagine variable geometry (swing wing) would be very stealthy.

Very nice. And a great distraction from the usual "sky is falling" ban threads.

Did you hear they are going to ban airplane models?  It's for the children.

nice model.
I was going to say "In before the guys who tell you all the reasons there won't be a SeaRaptor" , because it is so cool, but I see I'm fashionably late to the party, as usual.

Very skillful work.

I always wanted to be able to assemble and paint a model as realistic as those examples. Bummer that I didn't have the patience and most models I assembled in my youth were subject to ultimate warfare with my brother and it usually involved fireworks and dads gunpowder stock of some sort.

While it would be awesome to see a swept wing F-22, using the 14's wings to scale there is a great reduction in the Mean Areo dynamic Chord(MAC) and in such have created a really fast Jolly Roger lawn dart.

That is really cool. I'm just going to drop a hint... My birthday is coming up, and that model would look great in my office.

Very true. The NATF/AFX projects, featured a wider fuselage, giving it a much better overall wing area than the modeler was able to create using the parts at his disposal. The actual aircraft, had it been developed, would have looked much closer to this...

Which compares pretty favorably to the NATF and AFX official (supposedly) drawings...

You're looking at what is basically a stealthy F-14 using key F-22 systems and components, and in the case of the AFX, also possesses a strong ground attack capability.
