Worth way, way more than spot. Nuggets bigger than a quarter have intrinsic value way over spot price. That nugget is worth millions, probably bring 2-5 mil at auction.

It is worth what someone is willing to pay, no historical value in the gold only the size/quantity of the chunk.

Absolutely wrong. The "Golden Nugget" at the "Golden Nugget" in Las Vegas sold for MANY times it's value in ounces. So do other large nuggets.

I got to see that last week.  It was huge.  And didn't even have a guard nearby.

They bought it for $1 million.

IIRC, several large nuggets have been found in the desert wastelands of OZ.

I guess watch out for shit to stub your toe on.

A nugget that large is worth way more than just the gold value.

...........and the taxman will rape you for half of that value or more if not fuck you out of it completely via some bullshit claim or law.  Resist inviting the man in into your life wherever possible.

This.

It's worth way more in it's natural state. Likely a few million more.

It's not the largest nugget ever found.....The largest gold nugget found was the Welcome Stranger, found at Moliagul, Victoria, Australia in 1869 by John Deason and Richard Oates. It weighed gross, over 2,520 troy ounces (78 kg) and returned over 2,284 troy ounces

Nope. Farmers dont own whats under the ground. Mineral rights are fairly controversial issue here is Aus, still to this day. Mining companies can and do go ANYWHERE to explore for stuff. There is compensation, but bugger all.

Think of Australia as one big pile of iron ore, coal and gas..with a sprinkling of every other mineral known to man.

Do you people have any concept of money?

That thing is probably worth several times the pure gold value. Even if the government takes half you'd still be better off by selling it intact.

Not to mention the fact that he could have smuggled it out of the country and sold it intact abroad. Smelting it would have been tarded.
