Folsom Prison

(Wiki) - Folsom State Prison is a California State Prison located in the city of Folsom, California, 20 miles (32 km) northeast from the state capital of Sacramento. Opened in 1880, Folsom is the second-oldest prison in the state of California after San Quentin and was the first in the country to have electricity.[2][3] Folsom was one of the first maximum security prisons, and as such witnessed the execution of 93 condemned prisoners over a 42-year period. It is possibly best known in popular culture for two concerts performed at the facility by musician Johnny Cash in the late 1960s. Folsom State Prison is one of 33 prisons operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Pic I took of a sign they put up:

Pic from the series, my buddy used to live in that house in the background. We used to party there all the time, it wasn't blue when he lived there.

Gimghoul castle in Chapel Hill. It's a cool building but there's nothing actually historic about it. I love a good ghost story despite being a skeptic, but even the backstory to the ghost story appears to be completely contrived (as opposed to a myth with at least some basis in fact)

The house Julia Roberts "lived in" in the movie "Sleeping With The Enemy".  It's just around the corner from my house.

Sorry, that's about as cool as it gets here in Mayberry.

We do have a house a mile away where some sovereign citizens had a shootout and killed two LEO's a few years ago.  The house looks like Swiss cheese from all of the bullet holes.

I won't post pics of that one, though.  Folks around here would just as soon forget those assholes.

Mothbolled fleet of old Navy ships stationed in the Neches River.  This is not too far from my house.  Not sure what that structure is in the bottom left, looks like the superstructure of an aircraft carrier? Not sure though, there are many that are not pictured, most are old Navy cargo and re-fueling ships.

Jolly Green Giant on the hillside outside of town.

The cannery in town used to process all the asparagus for Green Giant.

The cannery is closed now, all the equipment sent to Peru about 10 years ago.

The asparagus that is coming out of Peru now is shit compared to what was grown locally.

Also the only guy to survive the Custer massacre is buried in the city cemetery.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Finkel

This cool enough, one King and one Prince in a 1000 year old Cathedral ?

King John's tomb

King John was born on Christmas Eve in 1166. He began his reign in 1199 in control of a vast empire which stretched from Gascony in the south of France all the way up through large regions of France to England, areas in Wales and some parts of Ireland. King John is most famous for agreeing to the Magna Carta, which was a charter of demands made by John's rebellious barons. When he died in October 1216, he had lost most of his French lands, and was in the midst of a civil war against many of his own barons.

Prince Arthur's tomb

Located next to the high altar in Worcester Cathedral is Prince Arthur's chantry containing the tomb of the elder son of Henry VII.

Prince Arthur (1486-1502) was heir to the English throne but shortly after marrying Catherine of Aragon he died, and thus never assumed the throne. His body was brought from Ludlow to Worcester.
