For you old farts like me or for you young shits that want to see a real late night talk show....
On Mondays 7pm(CST) TMC is running clips assorted clips from Johnny Carson. Conan O'Brien is hosting and they show various interviews Carson did with different people on the Tonight Show. Last Monday they had an interview with Mel Brooks right after "Young Frankenstein" had been released to the theaters. They talked about "Blazing Saddles" and Mel mentioned that he originally wanted Johnny Carson to play the Ringo Kid, but Johnny didn't want to do a movie.
Really is great to see a master like Johnny. There isn't a talk show host that can even come in a distant second to him.

When I was a little girl, I always felt so grown up and sophisticated on the rare occasions when the folks would let me stay up to watch Johnny's monologue. I mostly didn't get it, but it was still a treat. Carson was really funny and had genuine class.

Johnny Carson was hands down the best late night host ever.

His timing, delivery, and self deprecating humor was priceless.

I can't watch any late night show without hearing his opening music and thinking, "This poser couldn't lift Johnny's shadow".

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Carson is the most flattered man on TV.

Even if there were to be another ultra-talented Johhny Carson type to grace us, it would never happen on the networks because of sicatating whiteness.

Carson was the best.

The others don't even come close to approaching him.

I gave my wife a DVD set of his early programs. Very entertaining and the best part is we don't have to put up with that ego masturbating Conan O'Brian.

The scintillating patterns that appeared on certain fabrics on the screens of old analog TV sets was called the "Johnny Carson Effect" because the sports jackets he used to wear were bad for causing it.

The sad news is that the tapes they have are like 2/3 of his total work at The Tonight Show. The first ten years were recorded over.
When you get to the schlossen cut off...

During the summer vacation from school my parents would let me stay up and watch Carson. Everyone else would be sleeping but me and the dog watched, actually the dog was sleeping to but still by my side.

Comparing Carson to Leno is like comparing the pyramids of Giza to Fresh Kills.

I was too little to watch him live.  But I have watched a lot of clips on Youtube.  None of the new breed of hosts are qualified to hold Carsons jock strap.

Carson was a lot looser and as scripted.  His guests trusted him?  Nowadays, you can tell that almost every fucking line of the "interview" is scripted.

I remember watching his show as a kid when we would get to my grandparents house after a long drive.

He had great timing and delivery.

Throwing the tomahawks with Ed Ames (Tonto), hilarious!

Used to get back up after bedtime and lay in the hallway where I could see into the living room and watch Carson on the B&W TV. It went well until he said something that really made me laugh and I got caught, and sent back to bed.

There is a darn good documentary on Netflix about Johnny.

He still holds the record for the most watched tv episode of all time, Tiny Tim's wedding.  87-some million people watched it.

Just finished that documentary, thanks!
It got more laughs out of me than the last 5 theatrically released comedies I've seen put together.

I can't even remember the last time I've watched late night TV.
None of them come anywhere close to Carson...

What a class act.

I love it when Dean drops his ash in George's drink whenever George is looking the other way.
