I'm mostly going to be target shooting between 50-100yds.
I've never really shopped scopes for a rimfire, so the game is a bit new to me. Suggestions? |
Im running an old Bushnell 3x9 , works great, cant complain. I only shoot out at 50yds, but would have no issues out to 100yd
The 22IR specific scope Cabelas sells would be a great choice. I have 6 of the 22lR and 4 of the 22M and love them.
What's your price range?
I'm running a Vortex PST2.5-10X44 on my 10/22. Plenty accurate out to 100 yards. Only down side is the 100 yard parallax setting. Bought it from the EE for around $400. |

I have this on my Savage |

For a variable power scope, dollar for dollar you can't beat a vortex. A Crossfire II will run you $140 and has a lifetime warranty, no questions asked.
Having said that, I prefer a fixed power scope for rimfires and many other rifles too. |
I'm giving serious thought to either going with a fixed 4 power scope like a Weaver or a 2-7x33 Redfield Revolution for my American Rimfire
I bought the Simmons 22mag A/O because it was $55 with a $30 rebate. It gets the job done.
Something very light and short and please no blister pack Chinese scopes either.
Try a Leupold 2x7 Rimfire or VX-1. |
Check out Ebay Search for "Vintage Weaver Scopes" Some interesting things for fairly cheap. I have a V9 on a .17HMR, love it |
Simmons 22 mag is a good rimfire scope if you are on a tight budget.

I find I shoot best with it on 4x for some reason. Next time I think I will get a fixed 4x. I have seen a lot of cheap scopes on a lot of hard use 22's. Coon hunting guns that are never cleaned, etc. The Simmons are pretty tough. |

I know the "why pay less" crowd will have kittens but the Simmons .22 Mag (power of your choice) AO has worked well for me.

S&B PMII seems to get decent reviews. Might be worth a try. Lol troll Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile There's at least one guy here that has a Nightforce on his 10/22. I cant justify the price, but it was definitely a sexy rifle nonetheless. |

Seriously...go down to Wally world and get the Bushnell 4x32 scope for $30 bucks. Isn't the point blank range on the 22LR like 73 yards anyways? ETA: I have two of these scopes and I am happy with them... |

Nikon scopes give you the best bang for your buck. Lifetime warranty.
Here's one for $120. http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-riflescope-prostaff-3-9x40.html Don't waste your cash on a ~$35 Walmart scope. |

If you're not going beyond 100 yards, a nice fixed 4x is good. I like the Leupold rimfire scopes. The 2-7 is nice too, but there's something to seeing the same magnification level every time you pick up the rifle.
On my go-to .22LR rifle, I use a Weaver 40/44 3-9x40 with Ballistic-X reticle. I would prefer a finer cross hair, but otherwise I really like that scope. The ballistic reticle really helps if you plan on shooting more than 100 yards. And actually it helps me a lot even past 50 yards. |
That's what the guy at Cabela's recommend to me for my 10/22 and I got one for my Rugar American Rifle as well. It helped that they were on sale at the time in addition to a nice discount coupon I had. Great scope in my opinion. |

I recently bought the American Rimfire in .17hmr with 18" threaded bbl. These are really great rifles for the price. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
My other rimfires have cheapo dovetail mount Bushnell and Simmons scopes (<$50). They've done OK, but I wanted to put something better on the American. At the recommendation of my uncle I went with the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40 BDC. I have it sitting on Weaver Quad Lock High Rings with Weaver #12 bases. FYI I tried Weaver Quad Lock Medium Rings, but they didn't let the 40mm tube clear the rear sight, even with the sight folded down ( it was very very close to clearing though, super frustrating). This is my first Nikon and I'm very pleased with it. I have the high stock module installed on my American, and everything lines up perfect for me. I haven't had a chance to use the BDC feature of the retical yet, as most of my shooting is 50 yards or less. So far its been a tack driver at those distances. Good luck OP |

I like the Mueller APV on my .22s, the adjustable parallax comes in handy for dialing in at ranges shorter than 100 yds.

For price a quality go with a Mueller APT.

I looked at these when they came out, but decided to wait on the hopes that they would produce a threaded version. Need to be watching the LGS then for one in .22LR. |

A conversation with a friend convinced me I should consider the advantages of an adjustable objective.
It looks like I'm going with this: http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/banner/3-5-10x-36mm,-multi-x-reticle |
