My girlfriend got me a really nice watch, but I'm a hairy fucker and any movement of that heavy watch on my wrist grabs my arm hair.

How the F do you people wear watches with metal bands?

I don't wear them.

I guess you could always wax your wrists.

I wear mine tight so it doesn't move, I cant stand it when my watch flops around.

Not worth it, I tried for years and gave up.  Now I wear my high speed suunto so that I can be a tier 1 operator.

Solid link watchband. Get it sized right (if you don't do it yourself).

The only time I ever get pulled on mine now is if I get arm hair caught all up in the spring bar area and the lugs.

The hair all wears off after a while.

Two previous posters nailed it. Get your watch sized properly and the. Eventually those hairs will go away.

First things first.

When you say "really nice watch," what are we talking about here?

I learned to not do that in the 1970's, in junior high.  I believe the watch had a calculator on it too!

Nowadays you can just check the time on your cell phone.

I always have to change out the band for a small link, "motorcycle drive chain" style band to keep from grabbing my arm hair.  The factory bands grab the hair badly and I cannot wear a watch with the large one-piece segments that most manufacturers use.

We should start a support group for "HWS"..  There might be federal funds in it for hairy wristwatch syndrome.

Don't worry about it - wear it - it will pull all the hair out our of your wrists and you'll be fine

I asked my husband, who has hairy arms and a 2 or 3 different metal link watches - he said he had them fitted at purchase, never had a problem with it at all. So, thank the g/f several times, remove some links and enjoy

Once it plucks all your hair out on your wrist.....you will be fine. At least thats what mine did.

Edit:  Someone beat me to it.

Odd, I have hairy wrists, and generally have no problems with metal watch bands. I've really only ever worn Seiko and Citizen though. Maybe some magic there.

Sorry, I should have qualified that statement. It's a really nice watch to me. It's a Vestal, not a Rolex, but my last watch was a Walmart special.

I need to get a couple links taken out anyway, so hopefully that will help. Otherwise I'm going to wear it until it wears my hair off.
