I have a 72 Cutlass S hardtop. 350 Rocket with a console shifted auto. Pretty much stock. Green on green with black vinyl top and W35 rear spoiler. I don't know how to post pics from my phone or else they would be on here.

If I had my choice though it would be a Plum Crazy 70 Challenger R/T SE 440 Six Pack 4 speed super track pack. Luxury and performance.

Had this 1974 Javelin AMX when I was in college.  This one came with a 360 4 barrel and BW T-10 4-spd.  I rebuilt the motor with only a minor cam change (268 Comp cams) and Offenhauser 360 dual port manifold but left the factory carb and exhaust on it.  it ran mid 13's and still out handled other cars in it's class..  It needed a bigger carburettor though.  Wish I still had it.  My brother has about 4 of them still.  Mostly 401 cars.

I had an old friend that was fresh out of the Army and his Dad bought him a 1970 Dodge Charger with the 440 six pack....When he nailed the gas it would pin you to the seat!!!
Damn those cars of that generation were bad ass to the bone.
But the handling and brakes left a lot to be desired.
Still that raw horsepower and .25 cent a gallon gas made life wonderful!!!
Great days that most here never lived.

Went to college in a minty red '77 Trans Am with the 400cid Pontiac and it was fun and a looker.  Only year to dethrone Corvette as America's quickest/fastest sports car, IIRC.

Had a mint stock '69 Z-28 that was a blast, but just missed the '70s.

Love those  old Trans Ams

I had a 1974 Trans AM SD-455. Red also
Mine had a 4 speed Hurst in it, and a 342 Posi rear end
Pontiac only made 1195 of those SD-455 motors in a 2 year span, 1973-1974.
Over those 2 years there were 284 with a manual Hurst in them
Rated 310 HP by the factory. But most experts claim 370
All of those vehicles have an X in the vin # , and a metal sticker on the Valve cover

Pontiac quit making them because they couldn't pass the then little pollution standards.
They ran it hot to try to burn off the pollutants.
It came with a 210 degree thermostat, and the idle was set at 1600.

That got changed right away, for a 180, and I dropped the idle down to 900.
Once the 12 months were up. We changed out the 650cfm Rochester.
For a 850 Holley spread bore, with mechanical secondaries.
Then a cam change.
I ate 454 Vettes for breakfast.

Fun car, wish I still had it. But I beat the hell out of it. Heck that's what it was for!

Never will understand the love for those wing cars.  Ugly as sin. Especially the Superbird.  The 69 Daytona is marginally better but not much.  Now the Charger 500 is something to behold.  Same as the Daytona but without the ugly ass nose and wing.  Had a black Hemi 4sp Charger 500 with a red butt stripe at the shop a while back that was pretty fucking cool. My pick for 70's car would probably have to be a 71 GTX/Roadrunner.

I like them all.  Always been partial to the Charger over the Roadrunner, and I'd take one with wings or without.  On the other hand, the '69 Super Bee was also one of my favs, but not the '70.

By favorite of the era was the 1968 Charger.  Round tail lights really make the look.  Not so much a fan of the 1970 grille or tail, but that really minor stuff.

Right, but I was under the impression that most, if not all the Daytona's were 426 Hemi, not like that 440-6 in the pic.  Was that a production config?

Most of the 1969 Daytona's were 440's. Only around 70 had the Hemi. The car in the picture you are referring to is a "fantasy" car. A one of none as they did not build a 1970 dodge charger daytona. Only a Plymouth Superbird in 70 and they only built 1920 of those. You can thank Richard Petty for the Superbird.
