Anyone wanna post up the original report?

This info from the article makes no sense.

However, Coon told the Register via email that he wants investigators to consider whether problems with the plane's rudder pedals caused 21-year-old pilot Roger Peterson to lose control of the plane. He theorized that Peterson may have tried to glide the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza to a landing before the plane's right wing hit the ground,

I thought it was pretty obvious?  Weather and overloading?

Civil Aeronautics Board investigators concluded that the crash was due to a combination of poor weather conditions and pilot error, resulting in spatial disorientation. Peterson, working on his instrument rating at the time, was still taking flight instrumentation tests and was not yet certified for flight into weather that required flying solely by instruments rather than by his own vision. The final Civil Aeronautics Board report noted that Peterson had taken his instrument training on airplanes equipped with an artificial horizon attitude indicator and not the far-less-common Sperry Attitude Gyro the Bonanza was equipped with. Peterson had also failed his instrument checkride shortly before the accident. Critically, the two instruments display aircraft pitch attitude but depict such information in a visual manner opposite of one another; therefore, the board considered that this could have caused Peterson to think he was ascending when he was, in fact, descending. They also concluded that Peterson did not receive adequate warnings about weather conditions that, given his known limitations, might have caused him to postpone the flight out of prudence.

I think the music equipment was left on the bus.

Holley and the others wanted to get to the hotel early to do laundry and get some rest.

I don't know about the details but overloading can be deadly.  Flying in weather can be deadly.  If the weather was freezing as it seems, ice or frost on the flying surfaces can be deadly.

Without facts I can state that it is highly probable that it was pilot error...and that includes flying in marginal weather.

An interesting side note.....

The Big Bopper was from my home town.  It was often reported that he might have survived the initial crash for a short while based on the fact that he was furthest from the crash site and some thought that maybe he had crawled away from the crash before dying.

A few years ago, his son had his grave exhumed and had an autopsy done to confirm or deny the allegations.

Long story short, x-rays showed that almost every bone in his body had been broken and that death was instantaneous. He had not survived at all.

Another gruesome tidbit.....His son wanted to look at the body, as he was an infant when his Dad died.  He later reported that the body was still dressed in a colorful suit but the skin had a green color to it.

I'm honestly surprised there was any skin left to look at.
