This morning the flags were put back on the trucks.
No explanation has been given as to why they were pulled.

City officials ordered the Fire Department to remove American flags from vehicles.

From one of my firefighter buddies.

It's official, this is offensive in the City of Alice.

Very disappointed in our city officials. Today we were ordered by the Fire Chief to remove the American flags attached to the rear of our fire engine and rescue truck that we were proudly flying in support of our great military personnel and in honor of the recent events in which some of our country's greatest hero's lost their lives in Tennessee. We were told that this display was disrespectful and that we needed to remove them effective immediately. Wow..... disrespectful.....
What the hell is going on with our country, in the great city of alice, that anyone , much less a public servant would find our red, white, and blue majestically flowing in the wake of bold strong fire engine offensive.

I remember a story posted here a year or so ago about a fire chief making his guys remove it from their lockers or something because the American flag is "racist."

My only beef with flags on firetrucks is that they tend to get grungy as hell back there on the tailboard. As long as someone washes it every time the truck gets washed its a non-issue. Time to tell city council to come on over and remove it themselves

My God.. And the sad thing is I believe it.

Where I live is a lake community of Americans so my PC hasn't been updated. I had a Liberal g/f for awhile and when Memorial Day weekend rolled around I hung the flag off the back deck. She stiffened and said something to the effect she 'didn't mind' me hanging the American flag. We didn't last. According to her I was a cowboy and she was a hippy who 'luuuuved diversity'. I asked her how was categorizing me as a 'cowboy' embraced accepting others and being diverse.
I filled a garbage bag with her shit she left out here and threw it in the trash.
