Literacy rate for males in Swat, the area of Pakistan the author of the quote in the OP is from, is a whopping 12%. For females its 2%. So don't try to lecture the class about how you know they all "read just fine."

It took Christians 1,800 years to learn to not kill people in the name of the New Testament, and that only happened because we found better reasons to kill people, such as nationalism and socialism and other entertaining -isms. Jews were slaughtering their neighbors for over 700 years in the name of the God before they got beat by a tougher enemy, slowing them down. I think Islam is acting par for the course in terms of how religions operate. Humans be humans.

The naïveté of people never ceases to amaze.

The terrorists are not terrorists because they can't read.  They can read just fine.  They read the Koran and it says to do exactly what they are doing.  It is there in black and white...go read it yourself.

The highest goal of a follower of Mohamed is to emulate Mohamed in every way...dress, speach, diet, daily routine, beliefs, and actions.

Mohamed was a pedophile who slaughtered Christians and Jews, supported slavery, directed his followers to subjugate the world...convert or die.

That shit ain't complex.  Stop trying to put nuances where they don't belong.  This is one of those times in life where the clear answer is the simple answer.

Illeterate goat herders from the Swat valley pretty much stay in Pakistan.

The more literate ones take Jihad on the road...they don't abandon their faith.

More reading doesn't change what the book says.

The Koran and the Bible are not the same and you know it.  The Bible preaches peace and love.  It tells followers to emulate Jesus...who was peaceful and forgiving.

The Koran tells people to emulate Mohamed...a violent sadistic pedophile who told his followers to slaughter all non believers.

That is the grand canyon sized difference that you refuse to accept.  One preaches war and slaughter.  One preaches peace.  Not the same.

Education and "civilization" will not cure the Islamist problem; many of the leaders from the various militant factions are in fact from the upper class and highly educated.

The head of IS after all has a PH.D. (There is debate if it is in Education or Islamic Studies), the head of AQ is a surgeon and the founder of the Muslim brotherhood was educated in the US

As I've noted elsewhere, nobody has proposed sending terrorists to Harvard, or anywhere except straight to hell.

An uncensored education for the general population on the full spectrum of their own religion would be a good place to start.

Educating people who are already terrorists won't do much good.  The idea is that people with educations will be less likely to join groups which are anti-education, such as the Taliban and Boko Haram.

I didn't read all 7 pages, but doesn't Boko Haram translate roughly as "[western] education is forbidden".

It's going to be hard to win them over with education if their primary objection is to education.

I get that. I'm just not sure how we go about educating - or even simply encouraging the education of - people that are in or near the spheres of influence of these organizations. ISIS, The Taliban, Boko Haram - they control some pretty large chunks of real estate and I don't think anyone has been very successful operating schools that teach anything other than terrorist doctrine in those areas.

Would it help if there was more education among people that are candidates for radicalization? Absolutely.

Is it something anyone other than the locals can actually achieve? Not really.

It's an admirable goal, but it's probably a futile mission.

Sorry but you can't educate evil out of existence. It is not a mind issue, it is a heart issue.

Yet even though she is educated she believes Mohammed flew to the moon on a winged horse.

When I hear her denounce Islam I'll listen to her.

Brave yes undoubtedly. She wants Asylum, fine. Other than platitudes and trite sound bites nothing she says means anything because Muslims ain't listening.

Unfortunately, its that our society enables hate to be taught throughout our education system.
- hate Jews & Christians
- hate whitey
- hate males
- hate parents
- hate work
- hate success
- hate business owners
- hate pork
...etc....

In other societies, they teach people at an early age to "lie down" and "obey". UK and other EU countries embrace victimhood.

Islam teaches hate and takes advantage of those failings with other societies.

we need to simply kill as many terrorists as we possibly can - we'll never kill terrorism.

Your first assumption/guess/bullshit answer about literacy rates was completely wrong, why should anyone believe your second one, by stating the jihadists leave? Yeah, where does a Jihadist from Swat, Pakistan go to spread Jihad? Maybe Afghanistan?

More reading doesn't change what the book says but it means the person might not believe every story that comes from one book. For instance, I'm pretty well read, so when I read your posts I don't believe them because I know they are full of shit. Meanwhile, someone who isn't as well read and educated might take the crap you normally spew at face value, and then they would be ignorant, which is a bad thing.

Education is a good thing.

I love how all the people posting on high tech computers, using the English language in its proper form (mostly), living in one of the most educated countries on earth, in the most educated time period in human history, who constantly harp about fundamentals of such and such, about the need to train on such and such, who all of a sudden shut down about the effects of education because they think it will produce more PhD terrorists. Because that's where the majority of terrorists come from, right? Not the byproduct of mosques, but from schools teaching math and writing and science. Who wants to make a guess about the percentage rates of terrorists alumni graduates from the Istanbul University Medical School? Because according to a few fearmongers in this thread, they probably want everyone to believe its 100%. Its not.
