Good CGI has gotten to the point that an old face can be convincingly painted on a young one, such as Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button.  Stuntman Joe Smith can do the hard stuff wearing Harrison Ford's face while Harrison Ford wears Harrison Ford's face for the less challenging closeups.  It would be disastrous in a low budget or poorly directed film, but this is going to be a Spielberg flick... might work.

Hope it works too, maybe Clint Eastwood could do one more Dirty Old Harry.

I hope Shia Ladouch kills him with a lightsaber, then snorts a line of powder from the Ark followed by a big gulp from the Grail.

If someone could rip their hearts out that would be great too.

Please NO, there is no possible way it could be any good. Ford is 74 years old!

Hate to burst your bubble, but Avatar still owns that crown.  Star Wars 7 still did EXTREMELY well though.

Guess who will win at the end of the day? Star Wars because they'll get a SHIT TON of blu ray sales, merchandise and everything. When you add in all the other stuff, besides just pure box office ticket sales, Star Wars curb stomps the space smurfs.

I just read on a Hollywood insider site that the Wachowski Brothers (now sisters) are in talks to reboot Indy as a black, transgendered archaeologist who fights Donald Trump for an ancient mystical talisman that can change your sex at will. Apparently Jaden Smith is in the running to play the lead role.

It would hard to be worse than "Crystal Skull"

Then the whole interdimensional beings

View Quote

I mean this is a franchise featuing mythical skin melting ghost from a magic box, magic stones, and a five hundred year old immortal crusade knight. Interdimensional beings was the easiest thing to accept in that abortion of a movie. I never got why this concept went against peoples' perception of what the film series should be. Had the characters been written better, with classic Indy punchy dialogue and better crafted action sequences, I think aliens could have easily fit into this universe.

Since everyone busted a fat fucking nut over the new Star Wars, studious will quadruple down on rebooting franchises with nastalgia nods in the place of a good story.

Leave it to Disney to destroy an otherwise legendary movie series.

Yes, I know crystal skull was an abomination.  I do not consider it part of the the legendary portion of the series.

I think most in this thread have nailed it.

Harrison Ford will be in his mid-70's filming this one.  It's like watching a fighter come back for that last fight he shouldn't have.  Ford is a great actor, and i love the roles he's played, but he's just too old.

Maybe if they could transition him to the mentor, for his son or something, it would work.  But not as the main character.

You guys are too harsh on the Crystal Skull - for the wrong reasons. The whole crystal skull mythology is very legit, even though it's not part of Christian lore.
Also- aliens- more realistic than ghosts and a God that makes a golden arc that kills people who look at it.

The problem with Crystal Skull was that it needed better writing, it had Shia Lebutt, and that horrible seen with him swinging through the trees like a monkey.

No, he needs to play his age. It was clear his son was the new adventurer from Crystal Skull (Which I like, so sue me.)

I just think Shia LeBoeuf is damaged goods, and probably wrong for the part. Recast it with Chris Pratt, and I think you could have something real special.

yeah, it wasn't very good, bad story, bad writing, and execution aside.  Ford's age in an action role wasn't the whole problem with that movie, but it was part of the problem.

Long lost son he never knew he had shows up to take over the exploring rolls. Indy becomes the same character Sean Connery played. The franchise goes on.
ETA: in this PC world it will be his daughter and not his son.
