Monday again. A holiday here so not much going on. Need to fix the mailbox for the 5th time!! Can't understand how something out of the way and by itself can get hit so many times! This time nephew's friend was backing out of the straight driveway by making a 30 degree turn. People can't drive or back up anymore!

It mainly gets used for searing steaks, burgers, and kielbasa. |

Funny turn of events, won't bore any one with the details, but walked into Costco to buy a Weber and left with something else https://i.imgur.com/VRDywUT.jpg I think once I kill this grill, I'm going to go with a Blackstone. We were about to pull the trigger on a Blackstone, then they came out with the Combo griddle/pellet smoker available at Lowes. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Blackstone-Blackstone-Culinary-Pellet-Griddle-Combo/5012925771 It looked neat and would cover the bases I was after....but the reviews are not great with it, so we passed. I went back to researching and have pretty much settled on going with a MasterBuilt 800 Gravity Grill with some LSS Mods, (Wisconsin). It has a griddle included, can hit 700f for searing, can grill, and smoke if desired, so really is just one piece of equipment that does everything. Complaints seem to be that the electric brain can be wonky, and that the app itself can be problematic. Additional complaints are that the design allows grease flair ups/fires pretty easily. Extended warranty from Home Depot and the LSS Mods fix most of those issues. I've gotten right about 10 years out of every grill I've had so I figure with the LSS Mods we should get 10 years out the MasterBuilt. I have not had a charcoal grill since we moved into our house. Bought a gas grill because it was faster to get going and could handle more food for entertaining. Now that we dont entertain hordes of people like we used to before the kids, a giant grill isnt really needed. I dont have alot of experience smoking meats, and so far it's just the wife and I that like smoked foods. Kids are pretty meh overall, but do like the smoked salmon and my nephew's smoked chicken wings, so I believe they could be converted if things were properly prepared. I was looking a pellet grill, but I also do not want 87 different pieces of equipment taking up space on my deck, so the whole Griddle/Smoker/Grill thing really appeals to me. We'll see... |

I have the overpriced Weber version of the Blackstone and it's been awesome. Target usually has a clearance at the end of the season, so I was able to get it for 50% off.
It was seasoned from the factory, but I did a few seasoning sessions with Avocado oil and it's been non-stick. |
