Had a 1970 Gremlin, Straight Six and 3 speed on the floor.

We beat the hell out of that car and it kept on running.

I had an AMC Hornet - in '73 or '74.

Biggest POC ever...

Accelerator stuck in the 'full tilt boogie' position.

Windshield wipers operated by vacuum, stopped whenever I came to a stop at a traffic light.

Never owned one but I wanted a new Eagle 4X4 when they first came out with them.

I had a 1974 AMC Hornet exactly just like the one James Bond used in The Man With The Golden Gun.  V8 was quick as hell and would chirp the tires doing a second gear scratch with a 3-speed automatic, even when it kicked down when you punched it while doing 55 MPH!

Matador was my first car.  I wasn't too fond of the looks, but thought it tubbed out would look the part of a pro-street drag car.

My first car was an AMC 1970 Hornet 2 door. Straight 6, single barrel carb.  Bought it in a junk yard for 275.00.  Lasted for years.  I learned a lot owning that car.

my first car was a 1962 Rambler American, I purchased for 200 bucks when I was 16.  then in 1974 I bought an AMC Hornet hatchback, baby shit brown, drove if for 5 years and had zero issues with it. I wouldn't say it was a nice car, but it was a practical car.

I had an 85 and 86 station wagon.  Absolutely loved those cars.

I owned two of them. One was a Rambler American (1968 I think) that my wife & kids were T-boned in. They were hit on the passenger side front door & if it'd have been the driver's door my wife would have really been hurt. My boys (5 & 7 maybe) were in the back seat & one got a small cut on his head. Some jerk was doing about 50 in a residential neighborhood - even admitted it to the cops - but my wife got a ticket because he hit her on the right side.

My second AMC was a brown Gremlin with a six cylinder. It was a mid-70's & the perfect car for a Service Tech. Layed the rear seats down, loaded up the back with parts drawers & tools and I was good to go. That little sucker would really fly.

1969 Amc Ambassador SST with a 343 V8.  My brother owned a bunch of Javelins and Gremlins.  He would put either a 360 or 401 in each of the Gremlins from Jeep Wagoneers.  They would roll out.

Yep, I had a 1969 AMC Javelin.

I bought it used, and I think it was a rental car.

It had a 290 V8 and a tiny little 2Bl carb, automatic tranny.

It was....as my father said....cat shit yellow with a black vinyl top.

It dropped two transmission in the first year I owned it, both covered by warranty

When It dropped the 3rd, I bought a 3 spd manual and rear end (with all the pedals and linkage) from a junk yard and changed it over with the help of a friend

Later I did a little hot rod on it.  390 heads, aluminum intake with a Holley 650 double pumper, headers, custom exhaust, mags, air shocks and kind of fat tires on the rear

I loved that car

I've got an 80 CJ-7 if you think that counts.  I had a good friend who had an Eagle.  Pretty decent vehicle if you wanted 4wd and didn't need a truck or jeep.  Wasn't appointed all that well, but it wasn't a luxury car.

AMC Gremlin 1976, 232 inline 6 with a 2 barrel carb, 3 on the floor, Dana 20 rear ended. Banana yellow with brown interior, bench seats front and rear. My dad put the first 60'ish K miles on it and I drove it to just over 250K. My brother drove it another 30'ish K miles until it lost compression in more than one cylinder. Other than minor things like recovering and re stuffing the front seat and brakes about every 40K miles there was no major work done to the car. It was actually a amazing car considering how cheap it was new.

Had a Rambler Rebel With a 343 and a 4 speed for about a week before some mook talked me out of it at a gas station and traded him straight across for 1969 Olds 442 with a sick 400 and an M20 4 speed.

I think I got the better end of that deal, still kicking my ass for trading that Olds in for a new 1980 Z/28 .
The Olds was a better car.
