I didn't say we were going to discuss things science could NEVER explain.

But since we are on the subject of trivia, did you know there are two ways to argue with a woman.?
Neither one works.

The third option is to ignore the argument and hope it goes away.

Doesn't work either.

There is a school of thought it is a modern hammer and a chemical process caused the dirt around it to form into rock.

However, it has not rusted since it was discovered, despite mostly being iron.

So its likely an alien dikfer.

Interesting. I believe there's life out there somewhere, whether it has been on earth before I haven't a clue. One thing I've never really thought about prior to your comment was the possibility of a few abnormally ultra intelligent people. I would think it's very possible that said people created things we see as impossible given that era. Difference between now and then is one good virus outbreak won't kill an entire village and years of research down the drain never to be found again or hidden for XXXX years I should say. Pretty crazy to think about, some guy could have invented time travel 2000 years ago, then comes an outbreak in his village and boom, dead before he hops in his DeLorean. Buried 200 feet below.

I hate the run-on sentence editing, especially when he changes subjects. Needs a pause so you can catch your breath and focus on the next thing to come.

What's an alien dikfer?

Seriously, I've often wondered about whether there was high technology long ago and it was lost somehow.

I'll take " recently formed rock " for $1000 Alex.

The refusal of the owners to have it independently tested leaves me cold.

Calcium sediment precipitating out in the soil.  Kind of common wherever you have lots of mortar ... like around city buildings.  Just drive on a road that crosses under the Blue Ridge Parkway and you'll see similar stalactites hanging off of the stonework.

Or someone in the future created time travel, went back, starts showing the natives how to do stuff, and they smash his face in with a rock.

dikfer is a common expression here when someone asks what something is.  These are a little out there, so obviously alien.

The loss of technology even in very recent terms isn't all that surprising.  I know a number of examples involving wooden ships where repairs were made that greatly compromised the entire structure because they didn't understand the hows and whys.

Or as a more modern NASA inspired example:
