I had some chats about this with other non-US mil folks at a recent training exercise in the Baltics. A whole lot of them sympathize with us- they recognize we have a professional, competent military that is being saddled with absurdity from both external and internal senior "leaders". They were more sad and disappointed in it than laughing at us.

Of course, our adversaries are laughing, and rightly so.

13 years of rotary and fixed wing flying for the army, but I'm not retainable.

2008 was the only full year that I wasn't gone somewhere. Hell, I'm deployed right now. I'll get the email in about 2 months telling me that my service is no longer needed.
