"Night of the Living Dead" when I was 8 or 9. First "true" horror film.

Blood Demon.  We're talking around 1961-62.  I still don't know who starred in it.  I just remember all my life, my dad would joke about Blood Demon when I mentioned scary movies.

I when was in the 1st Grade a Classmate kept harping on this movie.
The next time it came on TV I was there to watch it.
Our Teacher said we shouldn't see such scary stuff.
I laughed!

Grew up watching the Sci Fi Theater on Friday night, then the Creature Feature on Saturday night.  Saw all the old Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee movies.  The 1930s Dracula and Frankenstein movies were awesome.

Event Horizon.  My parents rented it, thinking it was an action movie, and turned it off once they realized it was a little more intense than that.

I was six or seven and watched it after they went to bed.  Didn't sleep right for a few days.

Jaws in the Theater.  I was 6, and some asshole (my Dad) thought it would be a good idea to take the kids to this movie.  When the head came out of the bottom of the boat, I stood straight up and screamed.  I still cant swim in open water without looking over my shoulder, and sometimes even in a backyard pool.   Fucking movie ruined me.

Night of the Living Dead. I watched it at my aunt and uncles and they lived across the street from a cemetery. My dad had to carry me to the car kicking and screaming the whole way!

The original Godzilla.  Saw it on Friday night "Nightmare Theatre" when I was about 8.

Now I know by today's standards it's a cheesy Japanese monster movie.  But back then it was still kind of scary to an 8 year-old.

Grizzly did the same thing to me.  My brother took me to see it about a week before I went to Scout Camp in the mountains of Idaho.  Every night I was there I saw a massive grizzly hiding behind every tree.

6 years old;  5 Million Years to Earth - the O' club in Rota used to show movies on Saturday night  back in the 60's. Scared the ever-loving shit out of me - after that, I was hooked.  When my parents would go out, my brother and I would watch Creature Feature, Night Gallery, etc.  At the end of the night, my parents would come home and wonder why every light in the house was on.

Slugs.

Seen lots of better ones since then, but when you're a little kid and you're watching the gardener chop his hand off with an axe because there's a slug in his glove

" The Legend of Boggy Creek" was the first I remember. Bigfoot type movies scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

LOL - I thought I was the only one on the site that had seen it.  (Or would admit to it.)
